A. JONES. REVOLUBLE RACK.
No. 452,792. Patented May 26,1891.
m%nessels; Inverdor UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALONZO JONES, OF LONDON .HILLS, ASSIGNOR OF ONEIIALF TO CHARLES FERDINAND L. MOKENNEY, OF MAQUON, ILLINOIS.
REVOLUBLE RACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 452,792, dated May 26, 1891.
Application filed November 3, 1890' Serial No, 370,197. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALONZO JONES, of London Mill's, Fulton county, Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Revoluble Hose and Handkerchief Racks, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My invention relates to an improvement in a revoluble hose and handkerchief rack; and it consists of the peculiar combination and arrangement of devices, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
The object of my invention is to provide a convenient. hose and handkerchief rack main- 1y for the use of dry-goods merchants and for the purpose of exhibiting small articles of apparel, such as hose, handkerchiefs, the.
' Figure 1 is a perspective view of my complete invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a hose-holder constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 3 is a fragmental sectional View taken on the line of the shaft through the hub.
As shown in the drawings, my invention consists in an upright shaft resting on four feet, with extended arms connected to a revoluble hub. Said hub rests on an adjustable collar, which can be adjusted to any portion of the shaft to suit convenience, and secured by set-screw. The outer ends of extended arms, it will be observed, are provided with suitable loops, over which a looped safety spring-catch is secured. Said spring-catch is so constructed that from one to two dozen handkerchiefs may be hung in display upon it by inserting the extended portion through the corner of the handkerchief. My object is to use as many of these safety spring-hooks as there are extended arms.
For convenience of hanging in display the hose, I have provided a spring-rack of similar construction, which is adapted also to hang on the loop of the arms of my invention.
At Fig. 2 it will be observed that said hoseholder is constructed of four dome-shaped bows, with their extended ends secured to the base, on which are a series of bars made of suitable-sized wire, with each of their ends suitably curved into and around the base of said rack. The two outer wires have a full turn with extended outward ends. Attached to said outward-extendin g ends is a coiled spring, which binds the series of wires or bars together, at the same time making them easy to adjust, so that the end of the hose may be inserted between them and held securely, and at the same time be easily drawn out by the clerk or other person in charge.
A is the upright shaft. B is a revoluble hub; C, a collar; D, safety spring-hook.
a is a thumb-screw at the top of the upright shaft; 1), extended arms; 0, set-screw; h, loops at the outer ends of extended arms; (1, loop on safety spring-hook.
g is a loop on the upper portion of the device ,for hanging the hose; g connection of the upper ends of the bows; the extended bows; g", a series of coiled-spring rods; 9. extended ends, to which coiled spring is attached; g, coiled spring; H, feet on which my invention rests; cl, handkerchiefs.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
A hose and handkerchief rack with an upright shaft, revoluble hub with extended looparms thereto, with adjustable hose -holder, which is also made to conform to the outer end of the extended arms, with a series of adjustable rods g through which the ends of the hose are inserted and held in position by coiled spring as fully set forth and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALONZO JONES. Witnesses:
J. N. TlMMONS, W. O. CADWALLADER.
