Description
NITED STATES `i ENT Fries.
AUGUSTUS J. OHMER, OF HAMILTON, OHIO.'
IMPROVED PORTABLE REFRESHMENT-FOUNTAIN.
To all whom t may concern/f Beit known that I, AUGUSTUS J. OHMI-3R, of Hamilton, Butler county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Portable Refreshment Fountain; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
My invention relates tothe provision of an lcrmeticallyelosed pitcher or vessel of such dimensions as, when lled with liquor, to be conveniently carried about, and furnished with devices for the optional discharge of its contents in greater or less quantities by the iustrumentality of imprisoned air or gas.
A represents a cylindrical or other reservoir, which may be of size adapted. to hohl from one to six quarts.
B is a handle to the same.
C C are ears for the insertion of a shoulderstrap, by which the vessel may be conveniently suspended to the person.
D is an injecting and discharging tube screwed into the top of the reservoir A and closable at option by a throttle, E.
F is a screw-neck for the attachment of a discharging-nozzle, G, which may be precisely similar to those used on the common stationary sodaefountains, and may either be screwed 'ast to the discharging-tube in the customary manner, as at Figure l, or to a flexible tube, H, which itself is screwed to the neel; F.
A i'lexible tube, H, may also be used to charge the portable fountain from a common stationary tountain, a nozzle ot' which is indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2.
To adapt the flexible tube H to be tightly connected with the nozzle ot' a common sodafountain and readily detached therefrom, I have provided at one end of it an elastic mouthpiece, consisting ot' a metallic thimble, I, bushed with cork or caoutchouc, as shown at J, and provided on its exterior with arms K K, to facilitate its application to and withdrawal from the nozzle.
The portable fountain may be charged with soda-water, or any other aerated beverage; or it may be filled with milk, wine, beer, or other liquor, the requisite pressure being at'- forded by air injected into the vessel by a pump temporarily attached to the neck F.
lllhe following is what I claim as new in the above-described invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. While disclaiming any novelty in the internal construction of the fountain, I claim the portable refreshment fountain hereinbefore described, consisting ot' the reservoir A, ears C C, injecting and discharging tube D, throttle E, and nozzle G, or their equivalents, constructed, arranged, and employed substantially as and for the purposes specified.
2. In combination with a portable refreshment-fountain, the exible tube H and mouthpiece I J K, constructed and employed in the manner and for the purposes described.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
A. J. OHMER. Witnesses:
Guo. H. KNIGHT, J AMES H. LAYMAN.
