GAS-STOV E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 450,933, dated April 21, 1891.
Application filed October 25, 1890. Serial No. 369,371- (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JACOB GOLDSTEIN and ISRAEL BLOCK, citizens of the United States, and residents of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas-Stoves; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is atop plan view, and Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section.
This invention relates to certain improve ments in gas-stoves; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, as hereinafter disclosed.
In the embodiment of our invention we provide, as usual, the base or support A, constructed as shown, or otherwise, having the gas-supply pipe a arranged at the front thereof. The valved gas and air inlet pipes or connections Z) between said gaspipe a and the base or support A are provided with flanges c 0, adapted to be held to the latter, preferably by means of screws or other suitable fastenings.
The pipes or connections Z) are provided with short nozzle-like end portions (:1 (Z, which project through openings in the base or support A and into the pipes e c of the burners O C, the pipes e 6 also having flanges f, adapted to be held to the base or support by the same fastenings or screws securing the flanges c to the base or support. Thus connecting the said pipes to the support A obviates the use of solder or the brazing of the same in place, and at the same time permits them to be readily put into position and removed when desired.
The burners C are each constructed of three sections 0 0 0 The base or bottom section 0 consists of a circular chamber having a diametrically-construeted lower or bottom chamber o with which communicates the supplypipe 6, all being a single casting. The upper edges of the outer wall or rim of.the bottom section 0 is scalloped, while the section 0 consisting of an annular plate, has a circular scalloped flange e around its central opening and rests upon the upper scalloped edge of said bottom section, thus providing burnerjets to the gas-chamber. The cap section or plate 0 resting upon the upper scalloped edge of the flange 0, thus providing the flame jetopenings, has a single screw or other suitable fastening g passing centrally through it and engaging a threaded socket g in a cross-bar 0r spider 7L, spanning the upper end of the bottom chamber c and cast i11- tegral with the shell of the bottom or base section 0 of the burner, thereby securing all of said parts together. This arrangement also has the effect to dispense with the soldering or brazing of the cap plates or sections of the burner in place.
Having described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
1. In a gas-stove, the combination, with the base or support and the gas-supply pipe arranged at the front thereof, of the removable valved air and gas inlet pipes between said supply-pipe and base, said air and gas inlet pipe connections each having a short nozzlelike end portion projecting through an open ing in said base or support into the burnerpipe and provided with a flange 0 held to said base or support, the burner-pipes having also each a flange f held to the inner face of the base, and the screws or bolts passing through the base and both said flanges, substantially as specified.
2. In a gas-stove,the sectional burner held in place and secured togetherby asingle bolt or screw fastening passing centrally through hi JACOB GOLDSTEIN.
