Be it known that I, LOURE GREEN, ofGreat Bend, in the county of Susquehanna, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Flows; and I do hereby declare thefollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference beinghad to the accompanyingdrawings, maki g a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a view ofthe bottom of theplow, showing the center wheel attached; Fig. 2, the mold-board, (in part,) showing the guide for one end of the brace-rod; and Fig. 3, the brace-rod with the Wheel detached.

The object of this invention is to provide a center wheel in the bottom of the plow, by means of which the friction of the bottom of the landside may be reduced, the pitch of the plow regulated, and the general management of the plow while in operation greatly facili tated.

The wheel or roller W, with a wide flange, is placed on the brace-rod B midway between the landside and mold-board, and is held in place by the shoulder r on one side and'the washer h on the other side. The shoulder ris placed opposite the landside because the greatest pressure comes from that direction. The brace-rod B is provided with lipsp p, in which are slots 8 8. mold-board, acts as the axle of the wheel W, which turns upon it freely. The wheel is raised or lowered and secured at any point by the bolts 1) b passing through the laudside or moldboard and either lip pp. hen used upon the friction-roller landside-plow a great amount of friction is overcome, the rollers on the side next the land removing nearly all the lateral friction and the wheel W taking it nearly all from the bottom of the landside. It may, however, be used upon allordinary plows. It prevents in a great measure any tendency of the plow to a side movement and keeps it in a perfect line of draft.

The wheel W, by acting as a fulcrum, gages the depth of plowing or regulates the pitch of the plow, so that by raising or lowering the wheel the plow may be made to run deeper or shallower.

By a slight pressure upon the handles the plow may be made to pass readily over obstacles in the bottom of the furrow.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-

The combination of the cen ter wheel or roller, V, with the adjustable brace-rodB,constructed and operating substantially as set forth.
