Description

lini'rnn LORENZO D. BAILOR, OF GENEVA, NEBRASKA.
CATARRH REMEDY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 446,412, dated February 1'7, 1891.
Serial No. 369,542. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LORENZO D. BAILOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Geneva, in the county of Fillmore and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and useful Medical Compound, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to remedies used in bronchial troubles, and especially in catarrh in all its stages; and the obj eet of the combination of elements used is to provide a con1- pound that will not irritate any mucous membrane and that can be breathed into the lungs freely, being prepared especially for use in atomizers adapted for use in the spraying of the throat and nose and the same consists of the following ingredients, namely: listerine, (which consists of thyme, eucalyptus, baptisia, gaultheria, mentha arvensis, and benzoboracic acid,) carbolic acid, spirits of peppermint, muriate of cocaine, hydrochlorate'of berberine, (in solution,) and water, which are combined and mixed together in the following proportions: listerine, four drains; carbolie acid, ten drops; peppermint, (spirits of,) fifteen drops; cocaine, (n1 uriate,) two and onehalf grains; berberine, (hydrochlorate,) two and one-half grains; aqua pura, enough to complete a two-ounce mixture. The above ingredients are thoroughly mixed together and filtered, when the compound will then be ready for use in the atomizer.
It is known that certain of the abovenamed ingredients havebeen used inbronchial troubles; but it is not known that all the ingredients in the combination shown have been used prior to my invention as a spray.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A medical compound to be used as a spray for bronchial affections, composed of listerine, earbolic acid, spirits of peppermint, muriate of cocaine, hydrochlorate of berberine, and pure water, mixed together in substantially the proportions specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed mysignature in presence of two witnesses.
LORENZO D. BAILOR. Witnesses:
J. L. HoUoHIN, E. M. BILLINGS.
