Be it known thatJ I, FRANKLIN M. REED, :L citizen of the United States, residing at Anderson, in the county of Madison and State of Indiana., have invented certain new and. useful Improvements in Burners for Natural Gas; and I do hereby declare the folowing to be a full, clear, and exeet description oi the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it. uppertains to make and use the same. x
Myiuvention relates to burners for natural gas; and it consists in employing a burner composed of porous iire-cluy through which the gas or ot-her fuel. forced, the gas being ignited and consumed on the outer surlztec of the burner, all ot' which will fully appear from the following:
In the ziccolnpnn yin g drawings, Figure 1 shows in elevation my preferred form of burner, and Fig. 2 L vertical central section.
Referring to Figs. l und 2, A indicates the supply-pipe, which is provided with the small perforations a, through which the gas passes. A cap b is screwed onto the upper end of the pipe A, and s similar carp c is adapt-ed to be screwed onto the lower end. 4lhztween these caps and surrounding the pipe A is n sleeve d., which is composed of lire-clay of :i very porous character to allow the gas to readily pass through and he ignited. lhus it will be seen that by my in vention the gas FRANKLIN M.
