BEDCLOTHES-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 443,742, dated December 30, 1890.
Application filed December 6, 1889 Serial No. 382,746. (No model.)
about, but at the same time will not hold thebedolothes down in such a manner as to be inconvenient or uncomfortable for the occupant of the bed.
The invention consists of the combination, with a safety-pin and an eye connected therewith by means of elastic bands, of a snap-hook that can be snapped into the eye and strap connected withsaid snap-hook and adapted to be passed around one of the side bars of the bedstead.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of my improved fastener for bedclothes, parts being broken out. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional'view of part of the bed provided with myimproved bedclothes-fastener.
Similar letters of reference indicate corre- 0 sponding parts.
The safety-pin A is connected by an elastic band B with a leather or cloth clip 0, holding an eye or ring D. The safety-pin is preferably provided with bends A for receiving the ends of the elastic bands for the purpose of holding them in place and preventing them sliding from one end of the pin to the other. A snap-hook E, that can engage the eye D, is held on a ring or eye F, fastened to a strap 0 G, having a buckle H. The strap G is passed around one of the side bars K of the bedstead in such a manner that the snap-hook E is at the top of said side bar, and the safety-pin A is applied on the covering L or any other article of bedclothing to be held down, and then the said covering is stretched over the bed as much as may be necessary and the snap-hook E engaged with the eye D.- The elastic bands B permit of theperson occupying the bed to move under the bedclothing and prevent said clothing from being displaced by such movements, thus making it practically impossible for the patient or other person to throw off or disarrange the bedcovering or other bedclothing. When the cover is to be removed, all that is necessary is to disengage the snap-hook E from the eye D, and when the bedclothes ,are to-be fastened it is only'necessary to snap the hook E into the ring or eye D.
Any number of these fastenings can be used for the bed-covering, as circumstances may require. In most cases one at each corner will suffice.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In a bedclothes-fastener, the combination, with a strap adapted to pass around the side bars of a bedstead and a snap-hook connected with said strap, of a safety-pin, an elastic band secured to the safety-pin, and a ring secured to the opposite end of the elastic band and adapted to be engaged by the snaphook, substantially as set forth.
