Description

(No Model.)
B. KRULL. STICKY FLY PAPER.
No. 438,417. Patented 0%.14, 1890.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ERNST KRULL, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
STICKY FLY- PAPER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 438,417, dated October 14, 1890.
Application filed May 2, 1890. Serial No. 350,269. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ERNST KRULL, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco, and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of said invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it most nearly appertains to make, use, and practice the same.
My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in sheets 'for sticky flypaper and in the manner of preparing the same, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth and appear in the below specification.
The invention consists in providing abacking or sheet for the reception of the adhesive compound which shall effectually provide against the leaking or oozing out of said compound during transportation or storage.
Referring to the drawings forming a part of this application, in which similar letters of reference denote corresponding parts, Figure 1 is a top plan view of the sheet open; Fi g. 2, a longitudinal sectional view, and Fig. 3 an end view showing the sheet folded.
The letter A indicates the inner field of the sheet, which is designed to be coated with the adhesive compound. Surrounding said field is the free corrugated marginal border B. The sheet when prepared for use is coated with the adhesive compound over the entire surface of the inner field, so as to leave the corrugated marginal border entirely free from the same. It will thus be seen that when the sheet is closed the corrugated borders inter lock with each other, so as to form a perfect seal against the outflow 0r oozing of the adhesive compound with which the inner field is coated. By thus forming the sheet with a corrugated border free from the compound I provide against the escape of the adhesive material when the sheet is open the same as when closed. However, my improved sheet will be found to be of particular advantage for shipment or storage during the summer months.
I am aware that prior to my invention flypaper has been constructed wherein the b0rder is left free from the adhesive mixture and the edges thereof raised. I do not, therefore, claim this construction; but
What I do claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is.-
As an improved article of manufacture, a fiy-papenhavin g an inner field or background with a coating of adhesive material thereupon and an outer border free from said adhesive mixture, said border being provided with a series of corrugations adapted to interlock and prevent the spread of the mixture when the paper is folded intermediate of its edges, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature in the presence of witnesses.
ERNST KRULL.
