UNITED STATES PATENT EEICE.
C. IV. SALADEE, OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, ASSIGNOR 'IO SAML. HART AND ISAAC LEVY.
REGISTER FOR CARD-GAMES.
Specifica-tion forming part of Letters Patent No. 4 I,S20, dated March 1, 1864.
To all whom it may concern Beit known that I, CYRUs W. SALADEE, otPaducah, in the State of Kentucky, have invented a new and useful cardregister for registering games77 and points in gaines at cards; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference thereon marked.
'l`he nature ot' my invention consists in making a register (for registering the games and points ot' parties playing games at cards) by attaching; a suitable revolving or sliding disk or slip to a card of like size with the pack, each party to the game (being usually but two sides) being provided with a register to keep account of his points and the games of himself and adversary.
Figure l shows a register so constructed as to keep account of the points of one player and ot' thegames ot' two. Fig. 2 shows a register that keeps the points and games of but 011e.
In Fig. 1, the register No. l'is formed of a stiff card, A, provided with a revolving disk, B, which is secured to the card by apivot. In the edge of this disk is an opening, a, through which are seen the figures printed upon A, as seen at X. Upon the disk are printed the words PointRegister.7 U and D are similar smaller disks, pivoted at the lower end ot card A, and are provided with similar notches, c, through which are seen the figures printed upon the card, as at Y and Z. Upon these disks are printed the words Game-Register. These disks O and D should be dili'erently colored to distinguish the parties playing. As each point or game is won,l the appropriate disks are turned, so that a better and more convenient mode of registry is obtained than heretofore known.
The point-register may be made like the game-register, so that there will be four disks upon the card, and each party will be able to keep the account of the points, and also ofthe games of his adversary as well of himself.
Fig. 2 shows another mode of constiucting my register. It consists of a card, E, with figures printed upon it at Ufor the points. Another card, F, of like size, is pivoted. This card has an opening in it through which are seen the figures marking the points. Upon the lower portion of the card F are printed the game-gures, as at V. G is the circular disk, pivoted to this card, and has a notch, a., through which to read the iigures.
The register may also be made by having sliding strips (with the gures for the points and games marked upon them) inserted and sliding in slits in the card. There may be four of these slits upon each of these registercards, so that each party can keep an account of the games and points of both parties.
I am aware that revolving disks or sliding slips have been used heretofore for calendars, or for marking billiards. I therefore do not broadly claim the disks or slips, for my desire is simply to claim them when so constructed upon a card as to resemble. in forni and size an ordinary playing-card, so that they may be put up two in each'pack and be inclosed in the same envelope with the cards by the manufacturer. I hold that card-regis ters thus made are a new article of manu4 facture, and a great improvement in the trade of card manufacturing, never before known.
I do not desire to limit my claim to any or all of the partcula'1 devices herein set forth but What I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent as a new article of manufacture, is-
A card-register, (for registering the points and games in gaines at cards,) when constructed and operating substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I hereto set my hand.
C. W. SALADEE. In presence- CHARLES W. SALADEE, LYDIA OsBonN.
