UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE '1), PRINGLE, OF GUELPH, ONTARIO, CANADA.
HAND-STAMP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 417,278, dated December 1'7, 1889.
Application filed March 28, 1889. Serial No. 305,135. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE D. PRINGLE, jeweler, of the city of Guelph, in the county of \Vellington, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Rubber Stamp-Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to that class of handstamps in which more than one inscriptionplate is fixed to the same block; and the invention consists in the peculiar construction, arrangement, and combinations of parts hereinafter more particularly described, and then definitely pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a rubber stamp-machine provided with my improvement. Fig. 2 represents a similar view in a reversed position.
A represents a rectangular block pivoted on the spindle B, which passes through the frame C and is provided with a knob D.
As illustrated in the drawings, my invention is applied to a self-inking stamping-machine, and consequently the reversing-frame E is employed, and the inwardly-curved lip a is formed on the said frame. This inwardlycurved lip projects over the beveled edge 7),
formed on the block A and holds the said block stationary in the position indicated. WVhen it is desired to turn the block so as to bring one of its other sides into position for work, the said block is turned by seizing the knob D, and the frame E springs sufliciently to permit the block A to pass over the inwardly-curved lip a, and springs back again immediately that the beveled edge once more comes opposite to the lip.
I do not confine myself to any particular shape of block, as it may be triangular in form, rectangular, octagonal, or any other shape on which more than one rubber stamp may be fixed.
What I claim as my invention is- Apivoted block A, having the edges of its end beveled at b, in combination with an inwardly-curved lip a, formed on the springframe E, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
Guelph, March 6, 1889.
GEO. D. PRINGLE.
Inpresence of- NIOOL JEFFREY, HUGH M CMILLAN.
