B WOOD. M0]? WRINGER PAIL.
No. 416.087. Patented Nov. 26, 1889.
lmi'maao UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELIZA A. WOOD, OF EASTON, NElV YORK.
MOP-WRINGER PAIL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 416,087, dated November 26, 1889. Application filed August 17, 1889- Serial No. 821,093. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ELIZA A. WOOD,a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Easton, in the county of W'ashington and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mop-WVringer Pails; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of the invention and is a perspective View, and Fig. 2 is a detail of same.
This invention relates to combined pails and mop-wringers; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, as
pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the body of a pail of usual construction.
D indicates the hail, of novel form, provided with the roller B and pivoted to suitable ears 3, secured to the body of the pail. The bail D has -journaled upon its middle portion a cylindrical roller B, after the manner of the grip-roller of an ordinary pail-handle, said roller B being, however, larger and designed to engage a similar roller H, journaled parallel thereto in stationary brackets Z), having lateral guides Z) for the mop, secured to the.
wall of the pail. The bail D has proper radial swing to effect the engagement of the rollers. One arm d of the bail D is curved upward to the bearing of the roller, through which it extends diametrically across the pail. The opposite end 0 of the bail is provided with a shouldere to retain the roller B in proper relative position to the roller H. The extremity of the end 0 of the bail is provided with a stud which extends over the edge of the bucket, to serve as a pivot-bearing for an operating-treadle F, pivoted thereto. An arm G of said bail extends down at a right angle to the bail end c to engage the opposite end f of the pail. The treadle-pendant F extends down on the outside of the pail through a guide or keeper g and terminates in a foot or treadle h, which .is directed outward or radially with reference to the pail and at a right angle to the length of the pendant, and is designed for the purpose of receiving the pressure of the operators foot to hold the bailroller B down to its work against the roller H when the mop is to be wrung out.
L is a base-bracket secured near the lower edge of the pail below the rollers and extends out horizontally flush with the bottom of the pail to receive one foot of the operator to steady the pail, while the other foot is engaged with the pendant F to wring out the mop. The pail may also be moved about by means of this bracket, which may be pushed by the foot, thus relieving the operator of the necessity of stooping to reach the pail with the hand.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The combination, with a pail having near its margin a roller, of the handle-bail provided with a roller adapted to serve as a handheld or grip and to engage the aforesaid roller, said bail having at one end a pivoted treadlependant passing through a guide on the pail, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
