Description

(No Model.)
H. PETER.
SAW SET.
No. 413,089. Patented Oct. 15,1889.
Wilnesses. 9% /M UNITED STATES FFICE.
HENRY PETER, OF HOUSTON, TEXAS.
SAW-SET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 413,089, dated October 15, 1889.
Application filed July 13, 1889.
T0 .aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY PETER, acitizen of the United States, residing at Houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Saw-Sets; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The special object of my invention is to set saw-teeth in a new and efficient manner without the use of a lever. The means which I employ for this purpose will first be described in connection with the drawings, and then pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a plan view, and Fig. 2 a side elevation.
In the drawings, A represents the saw-set as an entirety, which consists, essentially, of an iron or metallic frame and three screws. The frame is provided with two arms a a, two bearings a a for the blade, and the recess a the latter conforming in shape to the desired set of the tooth.
B C are guide-screws,which are not screwed up perfectly tight, but only so much as to allow the set A to be slid back and forth on the blade.
Serial No. 317,385. (No model.)
The saw is held in a vise while the blade is brought within the parallel arms a a and between the bearings a a and the screws B 0. Then the setting-screw D is turned inwardly against the tooth until the latter is pushed out to the desired extent.
I11 order to regulate the set variably, I use, instead of the bearings a a, against which the blade rests, two screws E F,which will increase the set by being turned inwardly or decrease it by a reverse movement.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Let ters Patent, is
1. A saw-set consisting of the frame A, having the arms a a, blade-bearings a a, setting-recess a and the three screws B O D, all arranged substantially as shown and described.
2. The combination, with the frame A and screws B G D, of the screws E F, for regulating the degree of the set to be given to the teeth, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY PETER.
