SPECIFICATION forming part of Application filed June 24, 1889.
Letters Patent No. 411,411, dated. September 17, 1889.
Serial No. 315,443." (11% model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that LTHoMAs RING GABEL, a citizen of Canada, residing at Albuquerque, in the county of Bernalillo and Territory of New Mexico, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ratchet Track-Jacks, of which the following is a description.
The object of my invention is to do away with the necessity of sprin g-coils or other complications incident to track-jacks. This 1 accomplish by means of the liftin g-bar L, sliding in the guides S, the lever A, having its fulcrum F sliding in the slots B, the end of which lever engages with the rack in the lifting-bar L. a. By depressing the lever A the lifting-bar L is raised until the pawl P, by reason of its own weight, drops into place one notch directly under point of leverAand sustains the weight on lifting-bar L. By placing the foot on the end of pawl P it withdraws the point of the pawl from the rack in the lifting-bar L and allows the lifting-bar to fall into position at the base of the frame G.
Figure 1 represents a part sectional elevation of jack, showing the lifting-bar L sliding in the guides S, which guides are a part of the frame G, the lever A, having its fulcrum F sliding in the slots B and the end thereof engaging with the rack in the lifting-bar L, the pawl P also engaging with the rack in the lifting-bar L. Fig. 2 represents a back view of the jack. Fig. 3 represents a full side elevation of the jack.
Having thus described my improvements, I claim- 1. The combination, with the upright frame G, having the loops or guides S projecting laterally therefrom, of the lifting-bar L, sub stantially as set forth.
2. The combination, With the upright frame having the slotted bearings for the lever, of the said lever engaging therewith and with the lifting-bar, and the pawl P, substantially as described.
