The stand consists of a central stem, A. to
which legs B are secured by means of links 0' C, so that the stand when required for use shall open into the form represented in black in Fig. 1, and when done with shall be capable of-bl'ing folded up into a very compact form, asindicated by the red lines. per end of the stem A, being a conic frustum, enters a circular aperture in the bottom of the box D. r
The scene-operating. mechanism S having been substantially described in my patent of February 5, 1861, requires no specific-.explation.

The reflectors M for night illumination are simply semi-cylindrical shells, having attachments for lamps, and when not in use may be stowed away in an inverted-position under the scene-holder S without interfering with the use of the latter. (See Fig. 2.)
Lips N N, beneath the box, afford a temporary receptacle for the covers 0, which, when the apparatus is not in use, serve to close the glazed openings P P I have selected to illustrate my invention a form adapted for the'use of four spectators at once, but the device may evidently be adapted to a less or to a greater number.
- I claim herein as new and of my invention- 1. The stand or tripod formed of the members A B- B- B O O C G G"(), as and for the purpose set forth.
The arrangement of hinged lens-holder G- g and flap F f, together with their catches H and I, both'holder'and flap being capable of being closed or opened by a single movement, in the manner described.
3. The arrangement-of blinds J J, catches K--K', and segmented slots L L, as set forth.
