To all whom it may concern: I

Be it known that I, HIRAM AGAN, of Rome, in the county of Oneida, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improve- 5 ments in Hog-Scrapers, of which the following,'taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear,- and exact description.

This invention consists in a novel, simple, and inexpensive construction of a metal plate designed for scraping the hair from butchered hogs,which plate is conveniently manipulated, and is of acontour which affords ready access to the different parts of the hog to scrape the r hair'therefrom, all as hereinafter more fully described, and specifically set forth in the claims. 1

In the annexed drawings, Figure 1 is a top plan view of my improved hog-scraper; and Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section on line 00 as, Fig. 1.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

A represents the scraping-plate, which is composed of suitable metal, preferably of steel and sharpened on its entire edge, and also preferably struck up or bent into concavo-convex shape in cross-section. In order to afford convenient access to the different o parts of the carcass of the hog to scrape the hair therefrom, I form the contours of different portions of the edges of the plate A of different degrees of curvature, and preferably form the edge of the main portion thereof 3 5 oval in contour, and curve the edge of the remainder of the plate reverse from that of the main portion, as shown ate, and thus provide the plate with two angular portions 0 c at the junctions of the edges of the aforesaid portions of the plate.

h denotes the handle, which is attached to and projects from the convex side of the plate A, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.

In operating my improved hog-scraper the long side edges of the oval main portion of the plate A are used for scraping the main portions of the carcass. The sharper curved end edge of the aforesaid portion of the plate can be used on the head of the carcass. The reverse curved portion a of the plate is best adapted for scraping the legs of the carcass, and the corners or angular portions 0 c afford convenient means for scraping the inner sides of the legs at their junction with the body.

Having described my invention,what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,

1. The improved hog-scraper, consisting of a concave-convex metal plate, the edge of the main portion of which is oval in contour and the edge of the remainder thereof curved reverse from that of the main portion, and the handle projecting from the convex side of the main portion of said plate, substantially as described and shown.

2. The described hog-scraper, consisting of the concavo-convex metal plate A, the main portion of which is oval in contour, the remainder a having its edge curved reverse from that of the main portion and joined therewith by the angular portions 0 0, substantially as described and shown.
