On extending or opening the frame a b b', dac., into the position seen in Fig. 6, the said end joint of the lazy-tong bars has free play Within the slot e oi' the bar c until, on the arrival of the arms d in line with each other, a :notch h, formed in the upper side of the slot c', comes opposite to the said joint, and is engaged therewith for locking the arms d in the extended position of the frame a b b', &c.

I claim my invention- 1. In a holder and packing device for hats, the combination ot' sides or frames, each composed of bars jointed together on the lazytong principle, and bars or holders connecting the said frames, with means for locking the frames in the extended and closed .post tions, substantially as shown, and for the pnrpose described.
2. In a holder and packing device for hats, the combination of sides or frames, each composed of bars jointed together on the lazytong principle, bars or holders connecting the said frames, and means for locking the frames in the extended and closed positions, with means for securing the hats to the said connecting bars or holders, substantially as shown, and for the purpose described.
