W. R. BURRAGE.
BAG HOLDER.
N0- 398,81'7. Patented Mar. 5, 1889.
UN ITE Ell STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLLUI R. I'ECRRAGE, Oh TORONTO, ON'JTARIO, CAXADA.
BAG-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 398,817, dated March 5, 1889.
Application filed August 6, 1888.
T0 aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM RABY BUR- RAGE, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented a certain new and Improved Bag-Holder, of which the followin g is a specification.
The object of the invention is to design a $erial No. 282,048. (No model.)
parts constitute my simple bag-holder, to use simple device by which a bag may be sup- 1 ported and its mouth held open any desired 3 width within the scope of the diameter of the bag; and it consists in the peculiar construction and combination of parts, all as more I mouth of the bag to any desired size or angle.
fully hereinafter described and claimed.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my im- 1 proved bag-holder in operation, one side of l the mouth of the bag being held more open These jaws are shaped to fit over Fig. 2 is a perspective whi'h it is merely necessary to fold outwardly the edge of the bag I) and slip the fold over the bent side CL of the frame A. Then insert the studs or fingers G into the fold and move the said studs or fingers C away from the side a until the mouth of the bag has been distended sufficiently to permit of it being filled. As the studs or fingers C are independently adjustable, and will be held by the tension of the bag at any desired point at which they may be set, the party using my bag-holder is enabled to instantly and easily extend the Vhat I claim as my invention is- A bag-holder consisting of a frame, A, hav ing downwardly-proj ecting jaws B, and an upwardly-bent side, an, extended above the top j of said jaws, in combination with the studs or fingers G, adjustably fitted onto the frame l l l l A, and arranged in conjunction with the bent side a, to hold open the mouth of the bag D they are supporting, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
Toronto, July 23, 1888.
