Specifica-tion forming part of Letters Patent No. 39,863, dated September 8, 1863.

Be it known that 1, THOMAS J. MAGEE, ot' (lincinnati, Llaniilton county, Ohio. have iuvented a new and useful Improvement in Sofa- Bedsteads; and I do hereby declare the iollowing to he a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being1 had to the accompanying drawings, making part of thisspecication trestles, B B', supported on wheels G at their outer ends, and havingeach one a groove, D or D', for a purpose presently explained. A butt or shoulder, E, on each trestle limits its extension to the rectangular one shown in u Figs. 2 and 3. The bed-bottoni is composed of two equal leaves, F F', hin ged horizontally to the sofa at G and to each other at H, and
forming in their extended position a rectangular frame, which is guided to its extended position by studs -I I', which project from the outer leaf, F', int-o the grooves D D', and which act in conjunction with spring-l'nolts M M' to support the extended frame. Springs K K' compel the extension of the frame F F', and the swinging open ot the trest-les B B' on the liberation ot'the latter by the simple act of disengaging,r a catch or button, J.
