Be it known that I, LUTHER J. ADAMS, of Melrose, county of ll'liddlesex, State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in a Childs Chair or Carriage, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a. specification, like letters on the drawings representing like parts.

This invention has for its object the production of a simple and eflieient chair, which may be readily used either as a high chair or as a carriage.

In accordance with my invention a baseframe equal in length to the height of the high chair below the seat and provided at its front side intermediate its ends with two pairs of rolls has'pivoted to it a seat, the connections or links joining the seat with the base-frame being such as to permit the said seat to rest on the ends of the legs of the base-frame when in upright position and to be turned backward when the base -:t'ran1e is turned over upon its front side or upon its wheels, the said seat resting on the then upper but really the rear side of the basefran1e.

' The particulzn' features in which my invention consists will be hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims at the end of this specificati on.

The round or rung (1 serves as a fulcrum for the trundling-handle on, the latter, when the base-frame is in its upright position, being folded in close to the legs B B. The seat is entirely free to be moved into position to rest either on the end of the seat-frame or on its side, and when in the latter position the ears g come against; the legs l3 B between their ends and the parts rest against the round f, thus keeping the seat in horizontal position, although the legs B 1- are then in :in cl ined 1 )osition.

The mnvertible ehilds chair and earriage comprising a base-frame eom msed oi: front and rear legs, A 13, connected in pairs by rounds, and the pairs rigidly connected together, and one pair having rollers, combined with the seat, the ears g, secured to the seat, and links 71, jointed to the said ears and to one pair of legs, whereby the seat may be shifted. to rest upon the legs when upright and upon one side thereof when the legs are sup1j orted sidewise upon their rollers, substantially as described.

2. The combination of the two pairs of legs,

A B, rigidly connected by rounds, including rounds e and f, the seat E, the ears rigidly attached to the under side of the seat-bottom, the links it, pivoted to said ears and to the legs B, for adjusting the seat from the upper ends of the legs when upright to one of their sides when the base-Frame is laid down lengthwise, and the foot-rest (so-operating with the round 6 to hold the seat in position with the base-frame upright, and also co-operating with the round f and the ears g in the engagement of the latter with the legs to hold the seat in position when the base-frame is horizontal, substantially as described.

3. A convertible high chair or carriage composed of a rigid base-frame provided at its front side with wheels or rollers and a seat and foot-rest, the seat being connected with the base-frame by links, whereby the seat may be turned into position to rest either directly upon the ends of the base-frame or upon the rear side of said base-frame placed uppermost by turning the base-frame over with the rollers at its front side on the floor, substantially as described.

4-. The base-frame and the attached rollers and the seat, combined with the links connecting the seat with the rear part of the baseframe below itsupper end, substantially as described.

5. The base-frame, its attached rollers, and the seat provided with depending ears, combined with the links connecting the said ears with the base frame, substantially as described.

The base-frame, its attached rollers, and the trundling handle pivoted to the baseframe near its lower end, and the seat combined with the links joining the seat and baseframe, the links being connected With the said base-frame at a point below its upper end, to operate substantially as described.

7. The base-frame having the rounds e and f and the seat and its attached arms f combined with the links h, connecting the seat with the base-frame, the arms f resting against the round 6 while the base-frame is upright and against the round fwhen the base-frame is turned over, substantially as described.

8. A convertible chair composed of a baseframe constructed of pairs of front and rear legs of substantially equal height rigidly connected, and a seat joined to said frame by links, and thereby adapted to be placed in position upon the upper ends of said baseframe when it is upright and to be turned over and supported upon one of the pairs of legs when said baseframe is turned down lengthwise, combined With Wheels or rollers to support the base-frame when in this lastnamed position, substantially as described.
