IMPROVEMENT IN HARVESTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 39,719, dated September 1, 1863.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IsAAc H. UOLLER, of Poughkeepsie, in the county of Dutchess and State of New York, have invented certain 1mprovements in Heads for Knife -Rods and Knife-Rods for Harvesters, the construction and operation of which I have described in the fillowing specification and illustrated in its accompanying drawings with sutficient clearness to enable competent; and skillful workmen in the arts to whichit pertains or is most nearly allied to make and use my invention.
The nature of my invention consist in forming the head of a separate piece and attaching it to the knife-rod by means of double dovetails and rivets, or their equivalents.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing the head and a part of a cutter-bar and one knife.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the under side of head and part of cutter-bar. A is the head; B,the knife-rod O, the knife. The head A is cast with a recess on the under side, Fig. 2, the depth and width of the knife-rod B, with two projecting dovetails, a a, on each side.
The end of the knife-rod is fitted tight in this recess and fastened by means of the rivets b b securely to the head.
