This inventimi relates to an improved attac'hinent to compreSSed-air en ginea, by which the air exhaustigal lroiu a pneumatic motorengine instead ol being emitt ed tothe almosp'here is utilized by beingl mixed with air ol' high ln'cse'ure, the attafg-lunenli also Serving for the liinrpoee ol' regulating the pressure required for working the motor-engine.
The invention consiste of an attachmentto comln'essed-air engines, which consiste oi a partitionml hi gli-pressure cylinder that 1S connected with the in duction-pipe of a pneumatic motor-engine, an interior cylinder connected tothe eduction end of said motor-engine, a checkevalve at the inner end oli" the interior cylinder, a nozzle applied to the end oli the interior cylinder, an exterior nozzle attached to the end of the high-preeeure cylinder and concentric to the int n'ior nozzle, and means ior adjusting the interior cvlimler in atullingboxes of the high-pressure eyliinler.

j The opposite or inner end et' the Vinterior cylinder, D, is provided with a checlevalve, F, and with a conical nozzle, F', that is attached to the inner end of the eylinderD and guided in a guide-cylilnler, F2, attached te the head ei' the l'iiglrpressnre cylinder A, said guide-cylinder being provided with openings f for the 'free passage of. the air to the annular space l'ietween the nozzlesf and l). The base oi. the nozzle F', or that part which ie. guided in the cylinder F2, is provided with a Suitable packing for producing the tight connect-ien between it and the guide-cylinder W.
The nozzle F is located concentric to and adapted to be adjusted relatively to the noz* zle .ll oli the high-pressure cylinder A by the operating-lever D5, screw-nut D3, and serewrod D?, so that a greater er smaller quantity oit' air may be permitted to pass to the pipe in the annular Space formed by the nozzles B and ll", or the supply ol' air be entirely shut oil.
\\'hen the pneumatic motor-engine is started and the inner nozzle moved away from the outer nozzle, ll, a vacuum ie produced at the interior eli' the nozzle F and the exhaust-air is drawn from the pneumatic motor through the connecting-pipe E intothe interior cylinder, D, by t-he action of the hi gli-pressure air on the injector formed by the nozzle B and F. rPhe Suction exerted by the injector on the interior cylinder, D, lifts the check-valve F and Suche in the Spent air, which is mixed willi the air of high pressure and recenducted to the motor, Supplying thereby air at a lower pressure than that contained in the higl1-pressnre cylinder E, but relieving the piston of the motor-engine oi' any back-pressure caused by IOO the air exhausted from the same. lVheneyer a surplus quantity of exhaust-air is drawn by the injector B F into the conducting-pipe C, the proper equilibrium between the same and the interior of the high-pressure cylinder A is established by an auxiliary injector, G, the interior partitioned casi n g ot' which is connected with the high-lnessnre cylinder by a pipe, g, while its iixed exterior nozzle, G, is connected by a pipe, G2, with the high-pressu re cylinder A.
The outlet-pipe (l is comiected by a pipe, g', with the partitioned-olif end ot' the casin and with the interior cylinder, G", havin a cheekvalve, G5, and interior nozzle, Gi. The interior nozzle, G3, is adjustelfl toward the exterior nozzle, G', by a screwrod, screw-nut, lever, and stutling-box in a manner similar to the adjustment ol the inner nozzle, F3, ot' the highpressure cylinder A. The auxiliary injector relieves the main injector et' any surplus pressure and produces the proper eq uil ibrinm in the regulating attachment, so as to prevent back-pressure on the piston ot the inot r-en gine by t-he exhaust-air.
The attachment serves t'or regulating the pressure of the air conducted to the motorengine and the pressure still remaining in the air exhausted trom the same, so as to produce the easier running ot' the engine.
By adjust-ing the interior nozzle, t", ol' the higli-pressme cylinder the required speed ot` the pi'ieumatie engine is regulated at will, as the working otx the main and auxiliary injectors is vt'ully within control, while by the closing Ot' the main injeelm', by means et' the interior adjustable nozzle, the engine is instantly stopped.
Having thus described my invention, l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentfl. The combination ol' a high-pressure airy cylinder, an injector communicating with said eating with the eduction-pipe of said engine, and a check-valve at that end of the interior cylinder communicating with the injector, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with a high-pressure cylinder provided With the injector-nozzle connected with the induction end of a pneumatie engine, ot an interior cylinder connected to the eduction end of said engine, a nozzle at the inner end of the interior cylinder, a cheek-yal ve in said cylinder, and means tor adjusting the interior cylinder and its nozzle to the exterior nozzle of the high-pressure cylinder, substantially as set forth.
3. The combination of a high-pressure aircylinder, an in j ector communicating with said cylinder and the induction end of a pneu mal ie engine, an interior cylinder communicating with the eduction end ot said engine and at the opposite or inn er end with said inj eetor, and an auxiliary injector communieating with the high-pressure cylinder and the outlet-pipe ot' the same, so as to establish an equilibrium of pressure in the high-pressure cylinder and the outlet-pipe, substantially as set forth.
