UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE..
THEODORE A. PRAMHUS, OF DASSEL, MINNESOTA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF' TO ANDREV G. NORDlN, OF SAME PLACE.
BLlNDER-'LOOP FOR BRIDLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 393,658, dated November 27, 1888.
(No model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, THEoDoRE A. PnAMnUs, of Dassel, in the county of Meeker and vState of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blinder-Loops for Bridles, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide an improved blinder-loop for bridles which shall Io be simple in construction, but very efficient and durable. y
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this speeication, Figure l is a side elevation of aportion of a bridle constructed with my improved blinder-loop. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse section on line x x of Fig. l.
ln the drawings, 2 represents the cheekpiece, which is preferably formed of east nietal, 2o and is provided with the series of loops 3 3, arranged at suitable intervals thereon, and at each end with the loops 5, formed preferably substantially in line with the main portion of the cheek-piece. rl`he cheek-piece is also provided near each end, at a point near the base:
of the loop .5,with avertical pin, 7, preferably integral with the eheek-pieee. The blinder consists, preferably, of a sheet-metal plate, 9, having asheet of leather, 1l, arranged on each 3o side thereof and covering 'the metal plate.
Both the metal plate 9 and the leather layers 1l extend under the cheek-piece 2. A strap,13, extends the full length ofthe cheek- 'piece on its under side passing under the blinder, as shown in Fig. 2. A series of rivets, 15, extend through the leather strap 13, through the leather layers andthe metal plate 9 ofthe blinder, and through the cheek-piece 2, thus securing all of these parts together, and 4o with the strap 13 covering the cheek-piece upon its under side.
A filling-piece, 17, may be put in at the lower end of the blinder, between the strap 13 and the cheek-piece, as shown in Fig. 2. The strap 13 is long enough preferably to be carried through the upper loop 5, over the upper pin 7, down outside of the eheek-piece,nn der-the loops 3, over the lower pin 7, and through the lower loop 5, thereby covering the cheek-piece and the ends of the rivets 15. 5o The lower end of the strap 13 is preferably long enough to form the bitstrap, and its end may be carried through the loop 5, over the pin 7, and under one or more of the loops 3. The lower end of the crown-strap 19 will, 55 in a similar manner, be carried through the upper loop 5, over the pin 7, and under the loops 3.
lt will be seen that by this means I form a very strong but simple blinder-loop, which may be used with any harness.
llf preferred, the blinder may be omitted and the loop without it,as shown and described, be used.
l am aware of the patent to J. NV. lVeed, of April 30, 1878, No. 203,095,and claim nothing therein shown or described.
l claim as my inventionl. The combination, with the cheelrpiece 2, having the loops 5 and the pins 7 formed in- 70 tegrally therewith upon its upper and lower ends, and having the loops 3, the strap 13, riveted to the under side of said eheel -piece,and having its upper end extending through the upper loop v5, over the upper pin 7, under the loops 3, over the lower pin 7,aud through the lower loop 5, and having its lower end adapted to form the bit-strap, substantially as described. l
2. The combi nation,\vith the cheek-piece 2, So having the loops 5 and the pins 7 formed integrally therewith upon its upper and lower cnds, and having the loops 3, the strap 13, riveted to the under side of said cheelrpiece, and having its upper end extending through the upper loop 5, over the upper pin 7, Linder the loops 3,0ver the lower pin 7, and through the lower loop 5, and having its lower end adapted to form the bit/strap, and the blinder secured between the strap 13 and the cheek- 9o piece, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof lvhave hereunto set my hand this 36th day of March, 1888.
THEODORE A P RAM HUS.
