- One end 2 of the vessel 1 is covered with an openable cover 42 which has a sufficient water-tight construction.
- the numeral 43 designates a manhole for inspection.
- the apparatus according to the present invention being thus constituted, when a treating liquid (a) is made to flow into the vessel 1 and after the treating liquid (a) is introduced to the liquid tank 6, the regulating valves 33, 34, 37 are opened and the pump 29 and the heat exchanger 28 are operated, the treating liquid (a) in the liquid tank 6 is introduced to the liquid reservoir 4 from the opening 26 through the perforations 10, 10, in the stream regulating plate 8, and the space portion 9, opening 30 and through the pipe 27.
- the treating liquid (a) is caused to drop into the guide tube 12 continuously through the periphery of the dropping port 20 over the upper edge 18 of the auxiliary liquid stream producing chamber 14.
- a portion of the treating liquid (a) flows from the opening 31 into the auxiliary liquid flow producing chamber 14 through the feed pipe 32 branched from the pipe 27. Then the treating liquid (a) rises in the chamber 14, passes the curved passage 23 and turns downwardly at the ejecting port 22 having a form of annular slit, and ejects towards the center line of the guide tube 12.
- a liquid stream having a considerable energy can be produced by means both the liquid stream dropping into the guide tube 12 from the dropping port 20 and the auxiliary liquid stream flowing into the guide tube 12 from the ejecting port 22.
- the treating liquid introduced into the guide tube 12 fills the tube and flows therein and is discharged into the liquid in the liquid tank 6 from the opening 25 at the other end.
- the liquid tank 6 is substantially filled with treating liquid (a), so that the head (h) between the highest liquid surface (b) in the liquid tank 6 and the liquid surface (c) in the liquid reservoir 4 becomes extremely small.
- the apparatus is so arranged that after producing such a circulating current, the cloth (A) to be treated is introduced into the guide tube 12 passing around said driving reel 40 and through the opening 15 from the droppingg port 20 so as to flow through the liquid stream, and the cloth is caused to discharge into the liquid in the liquid tank 6 through the opening 25, whereby the cloth is made to stay and transfer in the liquid, then passes around the driving reel 40 again, thus the cloth can recirculate through the liquid.
- the treating liquid (a) is introduced into the liquid reservoir 4 through the pipe 27, the treating liquid (a) in the liquid reservoir 4 is caused to drop into the dropping port 20 from outside of the upper edge 18 over the inside thereof, and at the same time introducing a portion of the treating liquid (a) flowing in the pipe 27 into the auxiliary liquid stream producing chamber 14, and causing to eject the stream from the ejecting port 22 of the auxiliary liquid having a form of an annular slit, whereby it is possible to introduce the cloth (A) to be treated into the guide tube 12 with a sufficient energy possessed by the liquid stream even if the head (h) between the liquid surface (b) in the liquid tank 6 and the liquid surface (0) in the liquid reservoir 4 is small.
- the cloth (A) now in a form of a rope, is transferred in the guide tube 12 by the liquid stream, and is discharged into liquid together with a liquid stream discharged into the liquid in the liquid tank 6 from the opening 25 and is spread by the stream.
- the liquid tank 6 the liquid moves slowly from the end 5 of the vessel 1 to the end 2, and since the cloth (A) is adapted to stay in the stream sufficiently, the cloth (A) is caused to swim and transfer in the liquid pushed by the liquid stream while being spread and presenting a zigzag motion in a vertical direction.
- the portion of cloth (A) transferred near the liquid reservoir 4 and drifting near the liquid surface (b) is drawn up by the driving reel 40.
- the driving reel 40 is arranged only slightly above both the liquid surfaces (b) and (c), a tension acting on the cloth (A) at the lifting is extremely small.
- the liquid tank 6 is filled with the treating liquid (a)
- the cloth (A) can be treated perfectly in the liquid, so that there is no possibility of producing unevenness in the treatment.
- the flow of liquid in the liquid tank 6 is regulated by the stream regulating plate 8, there is no fear of causing one-sided accumulation or entanglement of cloth (A) before and behind within the vessel.
- the movement of the liquid is well-regulated in the axial direction by means of the guide plates for liquid stream 1 l, 1 1 projectingly provided on the inner wall of the vessel 1 in the liquid tank6, so that a smooth transfer of the cloth (A) is maintained. Moreover, since the liquid tank 6 has semi-circular cross-sections, no rotation of liquid nor twisting of cloth will ever be produced.
- the feeding rate of the liquid to the auxiliary liquid stream producing chamber 14 is regulated by the opening or closing of the regulating valve 34, thereby the introducing energy acting on the cloth (A) near the opening 15 of the guide tube 12 is adjusted, and a portion of the treating liquid is taken out through the perforations 38, 38, formed in the guide tube and through the gap 39, and is caused to flow into the pipe 27 through the pipe 35.
- the apparatus of the present invention since a greater part of the vessel, which is disposed substantially horizontal with its one end slightly raised, is alloted to the liquid tank, the treating capacity of cloth is great, and the apparatus is so-called overflow type, thus it is possible to circulate the cloth quite smoothly even when the head is made small, and a perfect treatment in liquid being performed, there is no possibility of producing any unevenness.
- Apparatus for treating cloth with a liquid comprising an inclined elongated vessel having a first end and a second end, said first end being disposed at an elevation higher than said second end, a partition wall located proximate said first end dividing said vessel into a tank section and a reservoir section, means defining an auxiliary liquid stream chamber within said reservoir 6 section, a guide tube extending externally along said vessel from said first end into flow communication with said second end, said guide tube extending at said first end upwardly through said auxiliary liquid stream chamber, said guide tube and said auxiliary liquid stream chamber each including overlapping terminal wall portions defining therebetween an annular passage enabling a first liquid flow therethrough from the interior of said auxiliary liquid stream chamber into said guide tube, with said terminal wall portion of said auxiliary liquid stream chamber extending over the terminal wall portion of said guide tube to define an upwardly directed flow opening through which a second liquid flow from said reservoir section may overflow into said guide tube, said annular passage being configured to introduce into said guide tube said first liquid flow in a downwardly directed direction at
- said elongated vessel comprises a generally tubular configuration including inner wall means defining said tank section, said apparatus further including guide plates located within said tank section and extending thereinto from said inner wall means.
