LIQUID DISPENSING STRUCTURE BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY OF THE I INVENTION desirable to have such a device which may be conve-.
niently operated as by the use of a hand or some part of the arm. 7
It is an object of this invention, therefore, to provide a conveniently operated device to dispense a liquid soap or shampoo or the like as in a shower stall.
It ,is another object of this invention to provide a compartmented liquid dispensing device having a pump in each compartment and having a cover for each compartment operatively connected with the pump therein.
These and other objects and advantages of the invention will be set forth in the following description made in connection with the accompanying drawings in which like reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views and in which:
FIG. 1 is a top plan view with a portion thereof being broken away and some portions shown in dotted line;
FIG. 2 is a view in front elevation; and
FIG. 3 is a view in vertical section taken on line 33 of FIG. 2 as indicated.
DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring to the drawings, a liquid dispensing device is shown.
Said device comprises a housing 11 which may be variously formed as to configuration but which in the embodiment here presented is shown to be substantially parallelepiped in form having an upwardly outwardly inclined front wall. Said housing may be formed of any of various suitable materials and is here indicated as being made of a suitable transparent plastic material.
Said housing comprises a back wall 12, a bottom wall 14, and a top wall 16. Said top wall is spaced downwardly from the top of said back wall whereby a back wall portion 13 extends thereabove.
Said top wall projects forwardly of said bottom wall 14 and a front wall 18 inclines or slants upwardly and outwardly in extending therebetween.
Side walls 20 and 22 extend between said bottom and top walls and are here shown formed integral with said front wall, and they extend rearwardly to abut the adjacent edges of said rear wall to enclose the ends of said housing. Adjacent edge portions of said housing are here indicated as being bonded or welded together as with the use of a suitable adhesive.
Dividing said housing into two separated compartments 27 and 28 is a vertical wall disposed centrally between said side walls 20 and 22 parallel thereto.
Portions 16a and 16b of said top wall respectively overlie said chambers 27 and 28.
Said top wall portion 16a has a central opening 30 therein and underlying said opening and integral with said top wall portion is a boss 33 here shown to be cylindrical in form having a bore 35 aligned with said opening 30 and having a counter bore 37 forming an annular shoulder 40.
Said top wall portion 16b has a central opening 31 and an underlying boss 34 identical to said boss 33 and 2 not further described. A pump 43 is disposed through said opening 30 and is seated onto said shoulder secured as by a press fit. An identical pump 44 is disposed through said opening 31. Said pumps are of a type in common use and respectively have upwardly-extending pump actuating tube portions 48 and 49.
' Extending upwardly of said back wall portion 13 respectively in alignment with said openings 30 and 31 are ribs 51 and 52 forming splines or keys.
Respectively disposed above said top wall portions 16a and 16b in spaced relation thereto are plate members 56 and 57 forming shelf-like pump actuating members. Said plate member 56 is here shown to be substantially rectangular in plan having an upstanding rim 59 thereabout. In the central back rim portion of said shelf is a vertical slot or keyway 58 which will receive said rib 51.
A vertical slot 60 in the front portion of said rim 59 is provided for drainage purposes. The upper surface of said plate member has a plurality of spaced ribs 62 upstanding therein whereby said plate member forms a general utility holder.
Underlying said plate member 56 is a rectangular shaped boss 63 centrally thereof and extending forwardly thereof.
Said boss is shown having a depending portion 63a substantially centrally of said plate member and having an opening 64 in the bottom thereof with a passage 65 extending from said opening forwardly of said boss to the atmosphere through the aperture or nozzle 66. Said opening 64 is sized to receive and hold said tube member 48 therein. With the plate member 56 positioned to have the tube member 48 received within the opening 65, the rib 51 will be disposed within said groove 58. Thus, said plate member 56 by means of said rib 51 and groove 58 is guided for vertical movement to operate the pump 43.
Said plate member 57 is identical to said plate member 56 and is not further described.
Said back wall 12 will be provided with a suitable adhesive 12a for mounting onto a wall surface.
OPERATION The operation of said device 10 is believed to be clear from the description given.
The plate members 56 and 57 may be used as utility shelves for various bathing items without obstructing the operation of the pumps 43 and 44 which merely require that said plate members he moved downwardly as by a hand or some part of an arm. The device herein represents a very useful convenience in a shower'stall.
A compartment may be filled by a removal of a pump.
It will of course be understood that various changes may be made in form, details, arrangement and proportions of the parts without departing from the scope of the invention herein which, generally stated, consists in an apparatus capable of carrying out the objects above set forth, in the parts and combinations of parts disclosed and defined in the appended claims.
What is claimed:
1. A wall mountable liquid dispensing device, comprising a housing having a chamber therein,
said housing having a flat vertical back wall and a horizontal top wall,
an adhesive coating overlying the outer surface of said back wall,
4 said upwardly extending portion of said back wall having a vertical rib therein, said plate member having a groove therein receiving said rib, and said plate member having an upstanding rim portion about the side and front walls thereof forming a receptacle.

Claims (1)

1. A wall mountable liquid dispensing device, comprising a housing having a chamber therein, said housing having a flat vertical back wall and a horizontal top wall, an adhesive coating overlying the outer surface of said back wall, said back wall being secured to a wall surface a portion of said back wall extending above said top wall, said top wall having an opening therein, a pump disposed through said opening of said top wall and being seated therein, a plate member overlying said top wall mounted thereabove onto an upper portion of said pump forming a pump actuating member, said upwardly extending portion of said back wall having a vertical rib therein, said plate member having a groove therein receiving said rib, and said plate member having an upstanding rim portion about the side and front walls thereof forming a receptacle.
