1 Claim, 8 Drawing Figures US. Patent Nov. 18, 1975 SHAMPOO DISPENSER This invention relates generally to bathroom accessories.

A principle object of the present invention is to provide a dispenser for shampoo which can be conveniently located within a shower stall of a bathroom where it is handy for use by a person when taking a shower.

Another object is to provide a shampoo dispenser which replaces the usually untidy condition of numeral shampoo bottles scattered about a bathroom on sink counters, bath tub edge and toilet tank cover.

Still another object is to provide a shampoo dispenser which can be quick'ley and easily secured to a tiled or other smooth surface of a shower stall.

Other objects are to provide a shampoo dispenser which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.

These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:

FIG. I is a perspective view of the invention mounted on a shower wall.

FIG. 2 is a top view thereof.

FIG. 3 is a front view partly in cross section.

FIGS. 4 and 4a is a side view of another model design thereof in which the push button is on a front side.

FIG. 5 is a front view partly in cross section of another model that dispenses either shampoo or rinse.

FIG. 6 is a modified design in which the unit is spring mounted so that if agitated it vibrates so to cause the shampoo to disperse as it is dispensed thus cover a wider area; centrifugal force causing it to pass through openings in a freely slidable perforated plate so to align with perforations in the case, and the spray direction being controllable by a set screw.

FIG. 7 shows the slidable plate in relation to the case, in the structure shown in FIG. 6.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, and more particularly to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 thereof at this time, the reference numeral 10 represents a shampoo dispenser according to the present invention wherein there is a plastic case 11 and removable top cover 12 so the liquid shampoo 13 can be replaced therein.

A dispensing valve 14 in a bottom of the case 11 is activated by an upwardly depressiblebutton 15 by a palm of a persons hand so that a small amount of the shampoo flows down into the palm for use. After removal of the palm, the valve automatically closes.

The case is easily secured to a bathroom wall 16 by means of vacuum cups or by water'resisting adhesive placed at 17. Valve 14 is tubular with a lateral opening. It is slidably mounted in a bottom passageway in the casing and has an outlet at the outer end and is closed at the inner end. A transverse'stop extends from the inner end and engages a seat in the case when the laterial valve opening is within the passageway in sealed relationship thereto.

In FIG. 4 a modified design of the invention includes a case 18 having two compartments 19 and 20 one of which contains shampoo 21 and the other contains rinse 22. Each compartment has its own dispensing valve 23 operated by individual push button 24.

It is to be noted, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 4A that the dispenser can be made with the push botton being horizontally movable, rather than upwardly as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, so to bear against the supporting adhesive and thus tend not to dislodge the container from the wall.

In operative use either of the push buttons can be operated so that either shampoo or rinse may be obtained.

The dispensing valve shown in FIG. 4A shows push button 24 attached to a slidable barrel 25 having transverse opening 26 which thus aligns with opening 27 of the case so that dispensing occurs. A return spring 28 movers the barrel afterwards so openings 26 and 27 disalign, thus closing further flow.

In FIGS. 6 and 7 a modified design of shampoo dispenser 29 is supported on a spring 30 mounted on vacuum cup 31 secured to the wall. In this form of the invention, when a person wishes to get shampoo, he simply strikes the dispenser so to cause it to oscillate on the spring thus causing shampoo to be dispensed from spray head 32. The dispensing stops as oscillation descreases.

In this form of the invention, a plate 33 with perforations 34 is supported by springs 35 extending into different directions; the plate being located within the interior of the compartment and positioned adjacent a rear side of the front wall 36 so that as the dispenser oscillates on the spring 30 then the momentarily perforated openings 34 through the plate align with perforated opening 37 through the front wall 36 at which moment centrifugal force throws a quantity of the shampoo through the aligned openings and out of spray head 38 supported on universal joint 39 when its position is fixedly secured by a set screw 40. It is, of course, understood that the oscillation motion of the dispenser causes plate 33 to oscillate on the springs 35.

Thus a modified design has been provided.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as is defined by the appended claims.

What is claimed is as follows:

1. A shampoo dispenser comprising a case fitted with a removable cover, said case having a rear wall with a projection therefrom having means for attachment to a wall provided on said projection, in combination with a valved outlet at the base of the case said valve having components relatively movable in a vertical plane to effect opening and closing of the outlet wherein said means comprises a suction cup, in further combination with a spring secured to the cup at one end and aligned with the suction cup axis normal to the support wall, said spring being secured at its opposite end to thecase, wherein the vertical axis of the case is perpendicular to the said suction cup axis, said valve having a vertical plate adjacent a vertical wall of the case and in sliding abuttment therewith, both plate and vertical wall perforations generally aligned to form the case outlet and further including resilient means securing said plate movably in said case whereby said resilient means biases said plate to a normally closed position wherein the perforations are not aligned and whereby vibrational movement of the case relative to the suction cup will cause oscillatory movement of said plate to periodic positions wherein said perforations are in alignment.

Claims

1. A shampoo dispenser comprising a case fitted with a removable cover, said case having a rear wall with a projection therefrom having means for attachment to a wall provided on said projection, in combination with a valved outlet at the base of the case said valve having components relatively movable in a vertical plane to effect opening and closing of the outlet wherein said means comprises a suction cup, in further combination with a spring secured to the cup at one end and aligned with the suction cup axis normal to the support wall, said spring being secured at its opposite end to the case, wherein the vertical axis of the case is perpendicular to the said suction cup axis, said valve having a vertical plate adjacent a vertical wall of the case and in sliding abuttment therewith, both plate and vertical wall perforations generally aligned to form the case outlet and further including resilient means securing said plate movably in said case whereby said resilient means biases said plate to a normally closed position wherein the perforations are not aligned and whereby vibrational movement of the case relative to the suction cup will cause oscillatory movement of said plate to periodic positions wherein said perforations are in alignment.
