CURTAENHROLLER BRACKET, sAsi-i rook, as.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 391,922, dated October 30, 1888.
Application filed July 19, 1888.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL H. SCOTT, of Ohanute, in the county of Neosho and State of Kansas, have invented a new and Improved Combined Ourtai n Roller Bracket, Sash- I-Iolder, SashLock, Fastener, and Lifter, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a device to be attached to the upper sash of a window for supporting a curtaiirl'oller, and at the same time serving as a sash-holder, lifter, and fastener, and lock.
The invention consists in a windowsash attachment of this kind constructed and arranged as hereinafter described and claimed.
The drawing illustrates the invention in position for use on a window-sash.
The invention embraces in its construction a bracketarm, 1, extending at right angles from a plate, 2, secured by screws 3 to the upper sash, 1, of a window and projecting inward therefrom to clear the side of the window-casing 5. The outer end of the arm lterminates in a disk, 6, formed with radial slots 7, by means of which the ordinary form of supporting-plate of a curtain-roller may be secured by screws, thus avoiding securing the same to the casing. The plate 2 is formed with a rod, 8, having the portion 8 projecting inward from the sash parallel to the arm 1, and then bent and extending downward a distance approximately equal to the length of the lower sash, 9. The rod 8 is further bent to form the angular portion 10, extending out to the face of the casing 5, the folded hook-shaped portion 11, and the angular projection 12, projecting toward the inside of the casing 5 and adapted to engage any one of the series of holes 13 therein. It will thus be seen by means of this construction that with arm 1 and slotted disk 6 a sup port for the end of a curtain-roller is provided by means of which the curtain roller and its attachment may be secured in place without marring the casing and the curtain lowered with the upper sash, so as to afford ventilation and at the same time shade the lower portion of the window. The sash 4. may also be supported at any height by rod 8 by engaging the projection 12 with any one of the holes 13, and when fully lowered to the sash 9 the latter will by the portion Sof rod 8 extending be locked Serial No. 280,392. (X0 model.)
across its top, the projection 12 engaging the casing.
In employing this invention the device will be duplicated, except as to the slotted disk 6. In this case the arm 1 terminates in an enlarge ment, 14, having a perforation, 15, to receive the supportingpin of a curtain roller, the parts being attached to the upper windowsash, as shown. The hooks ll serve as supports for the inside flowing curtains suspended from the top of the casing.
A complete sash-lock is afforded when the window is closed by the shouldered portion being moved in over the top of the lower sash.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A combined curtain-roller bracket, sash holder, fastener, and lifter consisting of a curtain-roller-bracket arm extending at a right angle to a plate for securing it to a windowsash, and a rod extending from the securingplate parallel with the bracket-arm and then bent and extending'at a right angle a distance equal to the length of a sash, with a folded hook portion at its end at a right angle thereto, and a projection at a right angle to the hooked portion, substantially as described.
2. A combined curtainrollen bracket and sash-holder consisting of bracket-arm 1, with disk 6, having concentric slots 7, securing-plate 2 at a right angle to arm 1, rod 8, having the portion 8 extending from plate 2 parallel with arm 1, and then extending at a right angle the length of a sash, with the angular portion 10, the folded hook portion 11, and the angular projection 12, substantially as described.
8. The combination, with the upper sash, 4, and casing 5, having apertures 13, of the plate 2, secured thereto, the bracket-arm 1, projecting inward therefrom past the face of the casing 5, and having disk 6, with radial slots 7, the rod 8, with portion 8 projecting inward from plate 2 parallel with bracket-arm 1, and then bent and extending downward a distance equal to length of lower sash, 9, with angular portion 10, folded hook portion 11, and angular projection 12, substantially as described.
