  • the present invention relates to an automatic nail polishing device, and more particularly to a funnelshaped nail polishing device rotatable with a suitable driving means such as motors.
  • Finger-nail polishing has hitherto been made by sand paper or the like materials. This method, however, has disadvantages that it required much time and since the polishing materials are not made to match the shape of finger-nails the surfaces of the finger-nails could not be finished to form smooth curved configurations.
  • the present invention employs a replaceable funnel-shaped member which is lined with buffs on both inner and outer circumferential walls thereof and is mounted on a rotatable support member driven by a motor whereby finger-nails can be automatically, speedily and smoothly polished.
  • an object of the present invention is to provide an automatic nail polishing device comprising a replaceable funnel-shaped member lined with buffs on the inner and outer circumferential surfaces thereof and mounted on a rotatable support member driven by a suitable driving means.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an automatic nail polishing device for polishing fingernails automatically, speedily and smoothly.
  • FIG. 1 shows a side view of a nail polishing device according to the present invention, partly in section;
  • FIG. 2 shows a plane view of same
  • FIG. 3 shows a side view of another embodiment according to the present invention, partly in section
  • FIG. 4 shows a plane view of a plurality of nail polishing unit devices (4 units) according to the present invention arranged in a casing;
  • FIG. 5 shows a left side view of same
  • FIG. 6 shows a side view of still another embodiment according to the present invention.
  • a funnel-shaped member 1 which is made of suitable metal or plastic material, has on its inner and outer circumferential walls thereof two linings S and S of coarse and fine polishing buffs respectively.
  • the funnel-shaped member 1 is replaceably assembled to a rotatable support member 2 by means of a pin 3.
  • the support member 2 has a square slot 4 at the bottom thereof and receives a spindle 5 connected to any suitable driving means such as motor (not shown).
  • the support member 2 is rotated by the spindle 5 thereby to rotate the funnel-shaped member 1 and the user can polish his finger-nails one by one only by applying same to the matching rotating inner or outer circumferential walls of the member 1.
  • polishing may be performed automatically, speedily and smoothly.
  • the nail polishing device according to the present invention may be arranged in a casing in units (usually 4) so that more than one finger-nails may be polished at a time by operating a motor (not shown) through a switch 6.
  • the funnel-shaped member 8 having linings S and S of coarse and fine polishing buffs on its inner and outer circumferential surfaces respectively may be rotatably mounted on a grip 10 by a pin 9 which is connected to one end of a flexible wire shaft 11.
  • the other end of the flexible wire shaft 11 extends vertically through the grip 10 and is connected to a motor (not shown) so that the funnel-shaped member 8 may be rotated on the grip 10 with the rotation of the flexible wire shaft 11.
  • the entire length of the portion of the wire shaft 11 below the bottom end portion of the grip 10 may be encircled in a flexible tube or shield 12 whereby the funnel-shaped member 8 can be operated at various angles allowable, by grasping by hand the grip 10 with the aid of the flexible tube or shield 12.
  • FIG. 6 which shows still another embodiment according to the present invention
  • a pair of beams 19 and 19' pivotably connected by a hinge (not shown) and extending laterally in opposite directions.
  • the beams 19 and 19' may form various internal angles downwardly by a locking screw 20 which fixes the beams 19 and 19' at a desired angle.
  • a central pulley l7 and a pair of side pulleys 16 and 16' respectively which latter are supported by spindles 15 and 15. These pulleys are rotated with a pulley 17 attached to a motor M by means of a single belt 18.
  • a pair of funnel-shaped members 13 and 13' having on their inner and outer curved walls linings of fine and coarse polishing buffs respectively are mounted on the upper surfaces of support members 14 and 14' in the like manner as shown in FIG. 1.
  • the support members 14 and 14 receive the spindles l5 and 15' of the said pulleys 16 and 16' and are rotated therewith.
  • the nail polishing device has the advantages that the nail of any finger may be polished on the curved inner and outer circumferential walls of the funnel-shaped member of the device according to its configuration and it is especially suitable for polishing the corners of a finger-nail at the outer edge of the funnel-shaped member and further, since the funnel-shaped member is lined with both fine and coarse polishing buffs an overall and complete polishing may be performed by this single device.
  • An automatic nail polishing device comprising a replaceable funnel-shaped member, a support member for supporting said funnel-shaped member, and driving means having a rotatable shaft for rotating said funnelshaped member and said support member, said support member having a slot at the bottom thereof for receiving said rotatable shaft for rotation therewith, said funnel-shaped member having an outer concave surface and an inner convex surface, said funnel-shaped member having a gradually decreasing cross-sectional thickness as its outer terminating end is approached, said outer terminating end being in the form of an arcuate annular surface, a lining of polishing buffs on said inner and outer surfaces, said lining of polishing buff being of a coarser grade on one of said surfaces than the lining of polishing buff on the other surface, and a lining of polishing buff on said arcuate annular surface.
