Abstract
Automatic pistol which comprises a breechblock-carrier disassemblable only when the pistol is in a non-firing position and only by means of an upward angular displacement of the rear portion of the breechblock, and which further comprises an ejection mechanism for the shell, which mechanism is made of a single unit comprising a snap latch displaceable with said unit.

AUTOMATIC PISTOL The present invention is related to an automatic pistol which comprises as a first embodiment an improved combination of breechblock-carrier and safety means.
The breechblock-carrier is guided and is displaced longitudinally on the body of the pistol and on a rod or stem having a latch spring or bolt spring which retains the breechblock during operation of the pistol. The safety means comprises a cammed pin which cooperates with the latch or bolt to displace the same in one of two positions, the first position allowing the possibility of actuating the trigger for firing and the second position preventing such actuation and retaining the pistol in a non-firing condition for disassembling of the breechblock-carrier.
A second embodiment of the present invention is re lated to an improved sear in the automatic pistol, which sear engages the hammer and forms therewith a single unit by means of an ejecting lever which is displaced together with the sear so as to eject the shell after the pistol has been fired.
An object of the present invention is, therefore, to provide an automatic pistol with breechblock-carrier disassemblable only when the pistol is in safety or nonfiring position and only through an upward angular displacement of the rear position of the breechblock.
Another object of the invention is to provide an automatic pistol in which the ejection of a shell is effected by a single unit comprising a spring tooth and displaceable therewith, contrary to known pistols wherein the ejecting means is a separate member statically fixed to the body or barrel portion of the pistol.
The invention will be described in greater detail hereinafter, with reference to the accompanying drawings, presented solely for illustrative purposes, in which:
FIG. 1 is an elevational view, partly sectional, showing the bolt in position for firing of the pistol;
FIG. 2 is a view similar to that of FIG. 1, but showing the hammer in position of safety and displaced to allow the disassembly of the breechblock;
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along the arrows A--A; and
FIG. 4 is a detailed representation of the snap latch with ejecting mechanism.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings, the pistol of the present invention comprises a body 1, which includes a barrel 2 and a trigger 3 for actuation of the hammer 4. A breechblock-carrier 5 is longitudinally displaceable on sliding guides 6 located in the body 1 and, by means of a frontal appendage 7, also on a rod or stem 8 which is integrally assembled with a small piston 9 forming the piston or bolt of the pistol. The piston 9 is lodged in a seat 10 provided in the body 1, while on the rod 8 there is mounted a spring 11 for the return of the breechblock-carrier to its original resting position after the recoiling and cocking actions. To the piston 9 there is coordinated the safety mechanism of the pistol, which mechanism substantially comprises a pin 12 mounted transversely on the body 1 so as to be positioned in the rear portion of the piston itself. On the pin 12, which has a small lever for its operation (not shown), there are provided two central surfaces 14 and 14' opposed to each other and forming two cammed areas or regions for the determination and delimitation of two distinct positions of the piston 9 as well as of the trigger 3.
When the pin 12 of the safety mechanism is rotated so as to engage the piston 9 with the surface 14' of the cammed area while concurrently the surface 14 is facing in the opposite direction the piston is displaced externally of its seat 10 see FIG. I so as to define the displacement of the breechblock 5 and prevent it from becoming free of the body of the pistol. In this position, the pistol is in firing condition and is ready for use.
Conversely, when the pin 12 of the safety mechanism engages the piston 9 with the surface 14, the piston, urged by the spring 11, returns to its seat 10 see FIG. 2 while the surface 14' of the pin engages the trigger 3 so as to have the piston in the safety or non-firing position. At this time it is possible to disassemble the breechblock-carrier 5 by displacing it toward the rear of the pistol and angularly lifting it upwardly see the phantom lines in FIG. 2. The removal of the breechblock-carrier from the pistol may occur, therefore, only when the pistol is in the non-firing position.
According to another embodiment of the present invention, the pistol is provided with a sear 15 for engaging with and disengaging from the hammer 4. On this sear 15 there is integrally provided, so as to form a single member, an ejecting lever 16 suitably shaped and positioned. The ejecting lever 16 moves, therefore, in unison with the sear l5 and, due to this arrangement, it is possible to have a considerably advantageous ease of assembly, since it is no longer necessary to provide for separate assembling steps as it is the case with known automatic pistols.
What is claimed as new and wished to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. In an automatic pistol having a body, a barrel, a trigger for actuating a hammer mechanism and a breechblock carrier guided longitudinally on the body and on a rod having a recoil spring and being integrally attached to a latching piston, the improvement which comprises: a safety mechanism comprising an elongated pin transversely mounted on the body and positioned to the rear of the piston, said pin being rotatable about its own longitudinal axis between a first, firing position and a second, non-firing position and a pair of flat, generally diametric surfaces formed on said pin, said surfaces being opposed to each other in order to define two cammed areas for determining two distinct positionings of said pin and for acting on the trigger of the pistol wherein said pin, when in the first of said two positions, determines the displacement of the piston by the positioning of one of said cammed surfaces thereagainst to limit the displacement of the breechblockcarrier and prevent the removal thereof from the pistol and wherein said pin, when in the second of said two positions determines the displacement of the piston toward the rear by the positioning of said other cammed surface thereagainst to allow the removal of the breech-block carrier from the pistol to an axial displacement toward the rear and a concurrent, upwardly angular displacement thereof.

Claims (1)
1. In an automatic pistol having a body, a barrel, a trigger for actuating a hammer mechanism and a breechblock carrier guided longitudinally on the body and on a rod having a recoil spring and being integrally attached to a latching piston, the improvement which comprises: a safety mechanism comprising an elongated pin transversely mounted on the body and positioned to the rear of the piston, said pin being rotatable about its own longitudinal axis between a first, firing position and a second, non-firing position and a pair of flat, generally diametric surfaces formed on said pin, said surfaces being opposed to each other in order to define two cammed areas for determining two distinct positionings of said pin and for acting on the trigger of the pistol wherein said pin, when in the first of said two positions, determines the displacement of the piston by the positioning of one of said cammed surfaces thereagainst to limit the displacement of the breechblock-carrier and prevent the removal thereof from the pistol and wherein said pin, when in the second of said two positions determines the displacement of the piston toward the rear by the positioning of said other cammed surface thereagainst to allow the removal of the breech-block carrier from the pistol to an axial displacement toward the rear and a concurrent, upwardly angular displacement thereof.
