Abstract
A golf shoe bottom mold is provided with a plurality of bores corresponding in number and position with the spikes to be removably mounted on the golf shoe bottom. A plug of a compressible material, such as a fluorocarbon polymer, is mounted in each bore and is provided with a central bore to receive the spike end. Each spike has an enlarged flange whose diameter is substantially that of the plug. The spikes are removably mounted in spike receptacles loosely carried by an anchor plate and are pressed against the bottom mold so that the flanges compress the plugs forming a tight seal. A highly plasticized elastomer is injected into the mold between it and a shoe upper to form the shoe bottom with the spikes removably in place on the shoe bottom.
