Abstract

A faucet handle removing tool for removing a faucet handle comprises a top plate having a slot formed therethrough. A bottom plate has a cutout extending from one edge thereof to proximity with the opposite edge thereof and tapering from a maximum width at the one edge to a point in substantially V-configuration. The cutout extends along the length of the slot. Support members affix the top and bottom plates in substantially parallel spaced relation. A first guard projection extends along the length of the slot in proximity with one edge thereof on the surface of the top plate. A second guard projection extends along the length of the slot in proximity with the opposite edge thereof on the other surface of the top plate. A bolt passes through the slot substantially perpendicular to the top plate and has a pressure bar affixed to the end thereof farthest from the one surface of the top plate and extends perpendicular to the axis of the bolt. A first nut is threadedly coupled to the bolt and abuts the one surface of the top plate and the first guard projection. A second nut is threadedly coupled to the bolt and abuts the other surface of the top plate and the second guard projection with the top plate between the nuts.

1 Claim, 6 Drawing Figures 1 FAUCET HANDLE REMOVING TOOL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a faucet handle removing tool. More particularly, the invention relates to a faucet handle removing tool for removing a faucet handle.
Objects of the invention are to provide a faucet handle removing tool of simple structure, which is inexpensive in manufacture, simple, easy and convenient to use, and which removes faucet handles with facility and convenience.
In order that the invention may be readily carried into effect, it will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a side view of an embodiment of the faucet handle removing tool of the invention;
FIG. 2 is a side view of the opposite side of the embodiment of FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the embodiment of FIG. 1;
FIG. 4 is a top view of the embodiment of FIG. 1;
FIG. 5 is-an end view of the embodiment of FIG. 1, taken along the lines V\/, of FIG. 2; and
FIG. 6 is an end view, taken along the lines VIVI, of FIG. 1.
In the FIGS, the same components are identified by the same reference numerals.
The faucet handle .removing tool of the invention is for removing a faucet handle.
The faucet handle removing tool of the invention comprises a top plate 1 (FIGS. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) having a slot 2 (FIGS. 3 and 4) formed therethrough.
A bottom plate 3 (FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 5) has a cutout 4 (FIGS. 3 and 5) extending from one edge 5 (FIGS. 3 and 5) to proximity with the opposite edge 6 thereof (FIG. 3) and tapering from a maximum width at the one edge 5 to a point in substantially V-configuration. The cutout 4 extends along the length of the slot 2.
Support members 7 and 8 (FIGS. 5 and 6) affix the top and bottom plates 1 and 3 in substantially parallel spaced relation.
A first guard projection 9 (FIGS. 2, 4, 5 and 6) extends along the length of the slot 2 in proximity with one edge 10 thereof (FIG. 4) on one surface 11 (FIGS. 1, 5 and 6) of the top plate I. A second guard projection 12 (FIGS. 1, 3 and 5) extends along the length of the slot 2 in proximity with the opposite edge 13 (FIG. 4) thereof on the other surface 14 (FIG. 5) of the top plate 1.
A bolt 15 (FIGS. -1, 2, 3, 5 and 6) passes through the slot 2 substantially perpendicular to the top plate 1. The bolt 15 has a pressure bar 16 (FIGS. 1, 2 and 4) affixed to the end 17 thereof farthest from the surface 11 of the top plate 1 and extending perpendicular to the axis 18 of the bolt (FIGS. 1 and 2).
A first nut 19 (FIGS. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6) is threadedly coupled to the bolt 15 and abuts the surface 11 of the top plate 1 and the first guard projection 9.
A second nut 20 (FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 5) is threadedly coupled to the bolt 15 and abuts the surface 14 of the top plate 1 and the second guard projection 12. The top plate I is positioned between the nuts 19 and 20.
The faucet handle removing tool of the invention is used in the following manner. First, the screw in the top of the faucet (not shown in the FIGS.) is removed. The faucet handle removing tool is slid with the cutout 4 of the bottom plate 3 under the faucet handle. The bolt 15 is then positioned in the slot 2 of the top plate 1 until its bottom point is exactly over the bore from which the faucet screw was removed. The bolt 15 is then turned in the nuts 19 and 20 and moves into the bore from which the faucet screw was removed until the handle is removed from the faucet.
While the invention has been described by means of a specific example and in a specific embodiment, I do not wish to be limited thereto, for obvious modifications will occur to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim:
1. A faucet handle removing tool for removing a faucet handle, said faucet handle removing tool comprisa top plate having a slot formed therethrough,
a bottom plate having a cutout extending from one edge thereof to proximity with the opposite edge thereof and tapering from a maximum width at the one edge to a point in substantially V- configuration, the cutout extending along 'the length of the slot;
support members affixing the top and bottom plates in substantially parallel spaced relation;
21 first guard projection extending along the length of the slot in proximity with one edge thereof on one surface of the top plate;
a second guard projection extending along the length of the slot in proximity with the opposite edge thereof on the other surface of the top plate;
a bolt passing through the slot substantially perpendicular to the top plate and having a pressure bar affixed to the end thereof farthest from the one surface of the top plate and extending perpendicular to the axis of the bolt;
a first nut threadedly coupled to the bolt and abutting the one surface of the top plate and the first guard projection; and
a second nut threadedly coupled to the bolt and abutting the other surface of the top plate and the second guard projection with the top plate between
