Abstract
A system for spraying materials on a surface around a common point involving a swivel with supply lines extending to the same and also supply lines extending from the same to a nozzle moving adjacent to such surface. The nozzle is mounted on an elevator which is movable in a tower, the tower itself being movable adjacent to such surface. The nozzle on the tower is connected to a portion of the swivel so as to move therewith so that supply lines extending from the swivel to the nozzle are not tangled or otherwise fouled during movement of the nozzle. The swivel itself may be used in guniting operations and as exemplified is constructed of generally concentric tubular elements which define a first passageway for a cement-sand mixture, a second passageway for the flow of water, and a third passageway for the flow of air for operation of a first air motor used in raising the elevator and also to a second air motor for moving the tower. The passageway for the abrasive cement-sand mixture incorporates a removable liner which normally protects a swivel bearing and seals and an air stream is directed between such liner and said bearing to maintain the same free from the otherwise abrasive effects of the cement-sand mixture and thereby prevent damages to said bearing and seals.

SWIVEL ASSEMBLY FOR GUNITE SYSTEMS The present invention relates to improved means and techniques usefulin spray operations and is particularly useful in guniting of the outer surface of, for example, a cylindrical tank used for storage purposes or in nu clear reactors.
An object of one form of the present invention is to provide a spray system such as for guniting circular structures with means incorporated therein to assure the absence of tangling or otherwise fouling of lines extending to a gunite nozzle when and as such nozzle is moved circumferentially around the tank.
Another object of the present invention is to provide improved means and techniques useful in automatic spray applications such that, for example, guniting of circular structures may be accomplished with less personnel than have been previously used.
Another object of the presentinvention is to provide an improved swivel connection for conveying at least three different kinds offluid or material in at least three distinct passageways with one portion of such three passageways being stationary and the other portion of such three passageways being swivelled on the stationary portion.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a swivel connection of this character incorporating a bearing and seal which is protected against abrasion by use of a suitable liquid or air stream flowing in a space between said bearing and said liner'with the liquid or air stream being effective to prevent material from entering that space between the liner and the bearing.

FIG. 1 shows a reinforced concrete storage tank 4 such as, for example, a water reservoir in the process of being gunited with a cement-sand mixture being supplied to a conventional gunite nozzle 6 from a cementsand supply source 7 via the cement-sand mix line 8 and swivel connection 9 and hose connection 10 in that order, the cement-sand mix being so moved by air pressure supplied from air compressor 11 to source 7.
Water is also supplied to the gunite nozzle 6 from a water supply source 13 via the water line 14, swivel connection 9 and water line 15 in that order for mixing in gunite nozzle 6 with the cement-sand mix being supplied contemporaneously therewith.
Air for operating two air motors 17 and 19 is also supplied from air compressor 11 via air line 21, swivel connection 9, and air line 24 which branches to line 24A extending to air motor 17 and to line 24B extending to air motor 19.
The gunite nozzle 6 is mounted on an elevator construction 21 which is vertically slidable in the tower structure 23 using the air motor 17 which operates the winch 20 on which cable 22 is wound, the lower end of cable 22 being attached to elevator 21 for controlling the vertical height of gunite nozzle 6.
The tower 23 travels around the outer circular wall of the storage tank 4 during the guniting process using the following construction.
The tower 23 has mounted thereon an upper drive wheel 25 which rides on the upper portion of tank 4, and also such tower 23 includes one or more lower wheels 29 engaging the outer cylindrical wall of tank 4. The drive wheel 25 is driven by compressed air motor 19. Conventional means (not shown) are used to control the tower drive means 19 and the gunite nozzle elevating means 17 so that both the circumferential position and height of the nozzle 6 may be controlled.
The swivel connection 9 incorporates means whereby guniting may be accomplished during travel of the gunite nozzle 6 around the tank 4 without the lines connected thereto becoming entangled or otherwise fouled. For that purpose, the swivell construction 9 is of special construction in accordance with important features of the present invention and is described now in detail.
The swivel construction 9 has a lower stationary portion 9A and an upper movable portion 9B, the lower stationary portion 9A terminating in a flanged portion 9C which is bolted by bolts 9E to a stationary open frame stand 30 through which cement-sand inlet opening 31, its liner 32 and flexible conduit 8 extends. This stand 30 is stationarily mounted on the roof of the tank 4 using a turnbuckle construction now described. The base of stand 30 is formed with eight eyelets 34 to each of which one threaded rod 35A of a corresponding turnbuckle 35 is pivotally secured, the other threaded rod 35A of each of the eight turnbuckles being secured to a corresponding anchor 37 which is in the nature of an apertured plate 37A to which corresponding rod 358 is-pivotally secured and an upwardly extending apertured plate 378 to each ofwhich a corresponding one of eight other turnbuckles 40 is secured, the anchoring structure 37 being secured to the roof of the tank 4 using stud bolts 42.
Each of the turnbuckles 40 has one of its threaded rods 40A secured to the corresponding anchor plate 37B and the other rod 40B of each of the turnbuckles 40 is swivelly connected to a ring 44 which has two sets of rollers 46, 48 rotatably mounted. thereon for engaging respectively the outer cylindrical surface of a flange 9F on the rotatable portion 98 of the swivel construction and the other set of rollers 48 engages the upper flat surface of the same flange 9F. Thus the two sets of rollers 46, 48 provide an adjustable bearing which is adjustable by adjustment of the turnbuckles 40 for smooth, guided rotation of the movable portion 98 of the swivel construction 9.
Referring to FIG. 6, it will be seen that the movable portion 9B of the swivel construction 9 includes as part thereof an outer cylindrical multi-piece wall which includes a tube 92 having an upper flange portion 92A I 3 a secured by bolts 94 to the yoke plate 96, the lower end of tube 92 being secured as, for example, by screw threads to the upper end of the tubular member 98 which has its lower end secured as, for example, by screw threads to the outer bearing half 100A of bearing 100. The other half 1008 of bearing 100 is secured to a part of the stationary cylindrical tubular member 102 which has a lower flange portion 102A secured by bolts 104 to the mounting plate 9C, the mounting plate 96 being secured to the stand by bolts 9E. Within this outer cylindrical multi-piece wall construction is an intermediate multi-piece wall construction 106 involving the following construction.
This intermediate tubular structure 106 includes a plurality of interconnected parts involving the tubular member 108 which has its upper end formed with a flanged portion 108A bolted by means of bolts 110 to the yoke plate 96, the lower end of member 108 being threaded into the upper end of a short tubular member 112 having its lower end threaded into the outer bearing half 114A of intermediate bearing 114.
The other bearing half 1148 is stationary and is threaded to the upper end of tubular member 116 which is formed with a flanged portion [16A for attachment to the mounting plate 9C by means of bolts 118. It will be seen that the outer tubular structure 90 and intermediate tubular structure 106 each comprise a multiplicity of parts defining generally cylindrical chamberl20 for the passage of water which enters at the inlet 22, passes through cylindrical chamber 120 and exits at the outlet opening 33 on the yoke plate 96.
The inner tubular structure which includes liner member 32 is defined by a plurality of parts which includes a tubular member 134 having an upper flanged portion 134A secured to the yoke plate 96 by bolts 138, the lower end of member 134 being threaded into the upper end of the sleeve member 136 which has its lower end threaded to the outer bearing half 140A of inner bearing 140, the other bearing half 1408 being stationary and'threaded to the upper end of tubular member 31 whichhas its lower end extending downwardly through the plate 9C with the lower endbeing screw threaded to receive a flanged nut which is used to releasably secure the upper end of the flexible conduit 8 through which the cement-sand mixture flows. Such mixture flows through the swivel construction and out through fitting 26 welded to the plate 96. Because this cement-sand mixture is abrasive and would have deleterious effects on the bearing 140, the removable wear-resistant and protective liner 32 is disposed within this tubular structure 130. Such liner 32 is loosely mounted and its weight is supported by the upper portion of conduit 8.
The length of this wear-resistant tube 32 is somewhat shorter than the adjacent length of the inner tubular structure 130 so that compressed air may flow in the annular space. as described more fully below to maintain that annular space and hence the inner space surrounding theinner bearing 140 free of the cementsand mixture. This tube 32 may be replaced by removing the yoke plate 96, i.e. by removing the fastening bolts 94, 110 and 138 in which case the yoke plate may be lifted and access may then be had to the tube 32 which may then be withdrawn and replaced. Optionally, the liner may be removed by disconnecting the flexible conduit 8 upon which the liner 32 normally rests. It will be seen that the annular space 164 which is. defined by the tubular structures 106 and 130 is generally cylindrical and serves as a conduit for the conduction of compressed air from the compressed air inlet which compressed air flows from the air inlet 180 through the annular space 164 and through the air outlet fitting 184. An'air branch circuit 180A with a valve 180B therein serves to conduct a controlled amount of air from the air inlet fitting 180 to the previously mentioned annular space I60 which is defined as that cylindrical space between the liner 32 and the inner cylindrical structure 130. The air flowing through this annular space 160 is, ofcourse, above atmospheric pressure, and the air therefrom discharges not only around the upper end of liner tube 32 but also discharges around the lower end of tube 32, A check valve 180F may be in the inlet fitting 180 to prevent reverse flow when and as the internal pressures become higher in relation to the air pressure as described above.
In operation of the system, guniting is accomplished with the gunite nozzle 6 being positioned as to height by the elevator 21 and as to circumferential position, with respect to tank 4 by movement of the tower 23. The movement of the tower 23 is transferred to the movable portion 9B of the swivel 9 by a pair of cables 200, 201, each having one of its ends secured to spaced points on the tower 23. As shown in FIG. 2, the other end of each of the cables 200, 201 are connected to eyelets 96A, 96B on the yoke plate 96. Thus if the tower 23 moves circumferentially around the cylindrical tank 4, the upper movable portion 9B of the swivel is moved a corresponding circumferential distance such that there is no tangling or otherwise fouling of the gunite air or water lines.
While the particular embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described, it will be obvious to those skilled in the art that changes and modifications may be made without departing from the invention in its broader aspects and, therefore, the aim in the appended claims is to cover all such changes and modifications as fall within the true spirit and scope of this invention.
I claim: Y
1. In a system for spraying a structure having a surface around a common point or line; a nozzle; swiveled conduit means; a plurality of sources of conveyable components; conduit means extending from said sources to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means incorporating wall means defining at least two separate passageways; and means for transferring said components from their corresponding source through a corresponding passage and to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means including swivel bearing means and seal means between said wall means; liner means defining a conduit and protecting said bearing means and said seal means and spaced therefrom to define a space; and means flowing a material through said space to prevent material flowing through said conduit from entering said space between said liner and said bearing means; and said seal means.
2. In a system for spraying a structure having a surface around a common point or line; a nozzle; swiveled conduit means; a plurality of sources of conveyable components; conduit means extending from said sources to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means incorporating wall means defining at least two separate passageways; and means for transferring said components from their corresponding source through a corresponding passageway and to said nozzle; means for moving said nozzle with respect to said surface; a movable support; said movable means producing movement of said movable support; said nozzle being mounted on said movable support; said swiveled conduit means being mounted on said structure; and said movable support being movable mounted on said structure.
3. In a system for spraying a structure having a surface around a common point or line; a nozzle; swiveled conduit means; a plurality of sources of conveyable components, conduit means extending from said sources to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means incorporating wall means defining at least two separate passageways; and means for transferring said components from their corresponding source through a corresponding passageway and to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means including a first passageway defined by an outer circular wall structure and an intermediate circular wall structure; a second passageway defined by said intermediate wall structure and an inner wall structure; each of said wall structures having a lower stationary wall portion swivelly connected to an upper movable wall portion.
4. A system as set forth in claim 3 in which said nozzle is connected to said upper movable wall portions of each of said outer, intermediate and inner wall structures to produce joint movement of the same upon movement of the tower.
5. A system as set forth in claim 4 in which a liner is disposed within said inner wall structures with an annular space therebetween; and means producing a flow of protective substance through said annular space to maintain the swivel connection between the upper and lower wall portions of said inner wall structures free from effects of one of said components flowing through said liner.
6. A system as set forth in claim 4 in which a liner is disposed within said inner wall structures with an annular space therebetween; and means in said annular space to maintain the swivel connection between the upper and lower wall portions of said inner wall structures free from effects of one of said components flowing through said liner.
7. In a system for guniting, the outer surface of a vertical structure such as, for example, a cylindrical tank; a tower; means mounting said tower adjacent to said vertical structure for movement around and adjacent to the outer periphery of said structure; an elevator; means mounting said elevator on said tower for vertical movement thereon; gunite gun means mounted on said elevator; swiveled conduit means; means mounting said swiveled conduit means within the periphery of said structure; a source of cement-sand mix; a source of water; conduit means extending from said cement-sand source to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said gun means for transferring a cement-sand mix to said gun means; water conduit means extending from said source of water to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said gun means for transferring water to said gun means; said swiveled conduit means including separate passageways, one through which said cement sand mix flows and another passageway through which said water flows; an air motor moving said gun means with respect to said structure; a source of compressed air; conduit means extending from said air source to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means ex' tending from said conduit means to said motor means to produce movement of said gun means; said swiveled connection incorporating a separate passageway for the flow of air from said air source to said motor means; said air motor means producing movement of said tower around said structure; said air motor means producing movement of said elevator on said tower; said swiveled conduit means including a swivel bearing; a liner inside of said swivel bearing for the conduction of said cement-air mix with an annular air space between said liner and said bearing; and a source of air in com munication with said annular space and supplying the same with air under pressure to maintain said bearing free of said cement-sand mix; said swiveled conduit means having a movable portion thereof connected to said tower to produce movement of the same upon movement of the tower; said swiveled conduit means being mounted on the roof of the structure; and said tower being movably mounted on the upper portion of the wall of said structure; said swiveled conduit means including a first passageway defined by an outer circu lar wall structure and an intermediate circular wall structure; a second passageway defined by said intermediate wall structure and an inner wall structure; each of said wall structures having a lower stationary wall portion swivelly connected to an upper movable wall portion; said tower being connected to said upper movable wall portions of each of said outer, intermediate and inner wall structures to produce joint movement of the same upon movement of the tower; said liner being disposed within said inner wall structure with an annular air space therebetween; and means producing an air 'stream through said annular air space to maintain the swivel connection between the upper and lower wall portions of said inner wall structures free from abrasive effects of material flowing through said liner.
8. Swiveled conduit means including a first generally cylindrical wall structure; a second generally cylindrical wall structure within said first wall structure and defining an annular passageway with said first wall structure; said first and second wall structures each having a stationary portion and a movable portion; a swivel bearing interconnecting the stationary and movable portions of said first wall structure; a swivel bearing interconnecting the stationary and movable portions of said second wall structures; said movable portions of said first and second wall structures being adjacent and being interconnected for movement as a unit; a third generally cylindrical wall structure surrounding said second wall structure and defining a second annular passageway therewith; said third wall structure having a movable portion and a stationary portion; a swivel bearing interconnecting the last-mentioned movable portion being adjacent to the movable portion of said first wall portion and being connected to the movable portions of said first and second wall portions to move therewith; the swivel bearing of said third, first and second wall structures being in that order, above the plane of a stationary structure to which their stationary wall portions are connected; a liner within said second wall structure and defining an annular space therewith;
means for conducting a flow of fluid through said annular space for maintaining the swivel bearing of said second wall structure free from abrasive effects of material being conducted through said liner; said first passageway defining a passageway for the flow of compressed air; the second passageway defining a passageway for the flow of liquid; and said liner defining a passageway for the flow of a cement-sand mixture; air conduit means extending through the stationary portion of said third wall structure and the stationary portion of said first wall structure; and conduit air means extending through said stationary portions of each of said third,
"first and second wall structures into the annular space between said liner and said second wall structure; a yoke plate interconnecting the movable portions of each of said first, second and third wall structures; gunite nozzle means to which said second liquid passageway and said liner communicate; means interconnecting said nozzle means to said yoke means to produce movement of said movable wall portions of said first, second and third wall structures upon movement of said nozzle means around the axes of said annular passageways.
9. In a system for spraying a structure having a surface around a common point or line; a nozzle; swiveled conduit means; a plurality of sources of conveyable components; conduit means extending from said sources of said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means incorporating wall means defining at least two separate passageways; and means for transferring said components from their corresponding source through a corresponding passageway and to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit nieans including swivel bearing means and seal means between said wall means; liner means defining a conduit and protecting said bearing means and said seal means and spaced therefrom to define a space; and means in said space preventing material flowing through said conduit from entering said space between said liner and said bearing means; and said seal means.
10. Swiveled conduit means including a first generally cylindrical wall structure; a second generally cylindrical wall structure within said first wall structure and defining an annular passageway with said first wall structure and defining an annular passageway with said first wall structure; said first and second wall structures each having a stationary portion and a movable portion; a swivel bearing interconnecting the stationary and movable portions of said first wall structure; a swivel bearing interconnecting the stationary and movable portions of said second wall structures; said movable portions of said first and second wall structures being adjacent and being interconnected for movement as a unit; a third generally cylindrical wall structure surrounding said second wall structure and defining a second annular passageway therewith; said third wall structure haying a movable portion and a stationary portion; a swivel bearing interconnecting the lastmentioned movable portion being adjacent to the movable portion of said first wall portion and being connected to the movable portions of said first and second wall portions to move therewith; the swivel bearing of said third, first and second wall structures being in that order, above the plane of a stationary structure to which their stationary wall portions are connected; a liner within said second wall structure and defining an annular space therewith; means in said annular space for maintaining the swivel bearing of said second wall structure free from abrasive effects of material being conducted through said liner; said first passageway defining a passageway for the flow of compressed air; the second passageway defining a passageway for the flow of liquid; and said liner defining a passageway for the flow of a cement-sand mixture; air conduit means extending through the stationary portion of said third wall structure and the stationary portion of said first wall structure; and conduit air means extending through said stationary portions of each of said third, first and second wall structures into the annular space between said liner and said second wall structure; a yoke plate interconnecting the movable portions of each of said first, second and third wall structures; gunite nozzle means to which said second liquid passageway and said liner communicate; means interconnecting said nozzle means to said yoke means to produce movement of said movable wall portions of said first, second and third wall structures upon movement of said nozzle means around the axes of said annular passageways.
Claims (10)
1. In a system for spraying a structure having a surface around a common point or line; a nozzle; swiveled conduit means; a plurality of sources of conveyable components; conduit means extending from said sources to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means incorporating wall means defining at least two separate passageways; and means for transferring said components from their corresponding source through a corresponding passage and to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means including swivel bearing means and seal means between said wall means; liner means defining a conduit and protecting said bearing means and said seal means and spaced therefrom to define a space; and means flowing a material through said space to prevent material flowing through said conduit from entering said space between said liner and said bearing means; and said seal means.
2. In a system for spraying a structure having a surface around a common point or line; a nozzle; swiveled conduit means; a plurality of sources of conveyable components; conduit means extending from said sources to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means incorporating wall means defining at least two separate passageways; and means for transferring said components from their corresponding source through a corresponding passageway and to said nozzle; means for moving said nozzle with respect to said surface; a movable support; said movable means producing movement of said movable support; said nozzle being mounted on said movable support; said swiveled conduit means being mounted on said structure; and said movable support beIng movable mounted on said structure.
3. In a system for spraying a structure having a surface around a common point or line; a nozzle; swiveled conduit means; a plurality of sources of conveyable components, conduit means extending from said sources to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means incorporating wall means defining at least two separate passageways; and means for transferring said components from their corresponding source through a corresponding passageway and to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means including a first passageway defined by an outer circular wall structure and an intermediate circular wall structure; a second passageway defined by said intermediate wall structure and an inner wall structure; each of said wall structures having a lower stationary wall portion swivelly connected to an upper movable wall portion.
4. A system as set forth in claim 3 in which said nozzle is connected to said upper movable wall portions of each of said outer, intermediate and inner wall structures to produce joint movement of the same upon movement of the tower.
5. A system as set forth in claim 4 in which a liner is disposed within said inner wall structures with an annular space therebetween; and means producing a flow of protective substance through said annular space to maintain the swivel connection between the upper and lower wall portions of said inner wall structures free from effects of one of said components flowing through said liner.
6. A system as set forth in claim 4 in which a liner is disposed within said inner wall structures with an annular space therebetween; and means in said annular space to maintain the swivel connection between the upper and lower wall portions of said inner wall structures free from effects of one of said components flowing through said liner.
7. In a system for guniting, the outer surface of a vertical structure such as, for example, a cylindrical tank; a tower; means mounting said tower adjacent to said vertical structure for movement around and adjacent to the outer periphery of said structure; an elevator; means mounting said elevator on said tower for vertical movement thereon; gunite gun means mounted on said elevator; swiveled conduit means; means mounting said swiveled conduit means within the periphery of said structure; a source of cement-sand mix; a source of water; conduit means extending from said cement-sand source to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said gun means for transferring a cement-sand mix to said gun means; water conduit means extending from said source of water to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said gun means for transferring water to said gun means; said swiveled conduit means including separate passageways, one through which said cement-sand mix flows and another passageway through which said water flows; an air motor moving said gun means with respect to said structure; a source of compressed air; conduit means extending from said air source to said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said conduit means to said motor means to produce movement of said gun means; said swiveled connection incorporating a separate passageway for the flow of air from said air source to said motor means; said air motor means producing movement of said tower around said structure; said air motor means producing movement of said elevator on said tower; said swiveled conduit means including a swivel bearing; a liner inside of said swivel bearing for the conduction of said cement-air mix with an annular air space between said liner and said bearing; and a source of air in communication with said annular space and supplying the same with air under pressure to maintain said bearing free of said cement-sand mix; said swiveled conduit means having a movable portion thereof connEcted to said tower to produce movement of the same upon movement of the tower; said swiveled conduit means being mounted on the roof of the structure; and said tower being movably mounted on the upper portion of the wall of said structure; said swiveled conduit means including a first passageway defined by an outer circular wall structure and an intermediate circular wall structure; a second passageway defined by said intermediate wall structure and an inner wall structure; each of said wall structures having a lower stationary wall portion swivelly connected to an upper movable wall portion; said tower being connected to said upper movable wall portions of each of said outer, intermediate and inner wall structures to produce joint movement of the same upon movement of the tower; said liner being disposed within said inner wall structure with an annular air space therebetween; and means producing an air stream through said annular air space to maintain the swivel connection between the upper and lower wall portions of said inner wall structures free from abrasive effects of material flowing through said liner.
8. Swiveled conduit means including a first generally cylindrical wall structure; a second generally cylindrical wall structure within said first wall structure and defining an annular passageway with said first wall structure; said first and second wall structures each having a stationary portion and a movable portion; a swivel bearing interconnecting the stationary and movable portions of said first wall structure; a swivel bearing interconnecting the stationary and movable portions of said second wall structures; said movable portions of said first and second wall structures being adjacent and being interconnected for movement as a unit; a third generally cylindrical wall structure surrounding said second wall structure and defining a second annular passageway therewith; said third wall structure having a movable portion and a stationary portion; a swivel bearing interconnecting the last-mentioned movable portion being adjacent to the movable portion of said first wall portion and being connected to the movable portions of said first and second wall portions to move therewith; the swivel bearing of said third, first and second wall structures being in that order, above the plane of a stationary structure to which their stationary wall portions are connected; a liner within said second wall structure and defining an annular space therewith; means for conducting a flow of fluid through said annular space for maintaining the swivel bearing of said second wall structure free from abrasive effects of material being conducted through said liner; said first passageway defining a passageway for the flow of compressed air; the second passageway defining a passageway for the flow of liquid; and said liner defining a passageway for the flow of a cement-sand mixture; air conduit means extending through the stationary portion of said third wall structure and the stationary portion of said first wall structure; and conduit air means extending through said stationary portions of each of said third, first and second wall structures into the annular space between said liner and said second wall structure; a yoke plate interconnecting the movable portions of each of said first, second and third wall structures; gunite nozzle means to which said second liquid passageway and said liner communicate; means interconnecting said nozzle means to said yoke means to produce movement of said movable wall portions of said first, second and third wall structures upon movement of said nozzle means around the axes of said annular passageways.
9. In a system for spraying a structure having a surface around a common point or line; a nozzle; swiveled conduit means; a plurality of sources of conveyable components; conduit means extending from said sources of said swiveled conduit means and conduit means extending from said swiveled conduit means to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit meanS incorporating wall means defining at least two separate passageways; and means for transferring said components from their corresponding source through a corresponding passageway and to said nozzle; said swiveled conduit means including swivel bearing means and seal means between said wall means; liner means defining a conduit and protecting said bearing means and said seal means and spaced therefrom to define a space; and means in said space preventing material flowing through said conduit from entering said space between said liner and said bearing means; and said seal means.
10. Swiveled conduit means including a first generally cylindrical wall structure; a second generally cylindrical wall structure within said first wall structure and defining an annular passageway with said first wall structure and defining an annular passageway with said first wall structure; said first and second wall structures each having a stationary portion and a movable portion; a swivel bearing interconnecting the stationary and movable portions of said first wall structure; a swivel bearing interconnecting the stationary and movable portions of said second wall structures; said movable portions of said first and second wall structures being adjacent and being interconnected for movement as a unit; a third generally cylindrical wall structure surrounding said second wall structure and defining a second annular passageway therewith; said third wall structure having a movable portion and a stationary portion; a swivel bearing interconnecting the last-mentioned movable portion being adjacent to the movable portion of said first wall portion and being connected to the movable portions of said first and second wall portions to move therewith; the swivel bearing of said third, first and second wall structures being in that order, above the plane of a stationary structure to which their stationary wall portions are connected; a liner within said second wall structure and defining an annular space therewith; means in said annular space for maintaining the swivel bearing of said second wall structure free from abrasive effects of material being conducted through said liner; said first passageway defining a passageway for the flow of compressed air; the second passageway defining a passageway for the flow of liquid; and said liner defining a passageway for the flow of a cement-sand mixture; air conduit means extending through the stationary portion of said third wall structure and the stationary portion of said first wall structure; and conduit air means extending through said stationary portions of each of said third, first and second wall structures into the annular space between said liner and said second wall structure; a yoke plate interconnecting the movable portions of each of said first, second and third wall structures; gunite nozzle means to which said second liquid passageway and said liner communicate; means interconnecting said nozzle means to said yoke means to produce movement of said movable wall portions of said first, second and third wall structures upon movement of said nozzle means around the axes of said annular passageways.
