UNITED STATES PATENTS 3 Cl 4 D F 786,997 4/1905 Rosenthal 273/97 R 2 I 'gures 5 l I I P2 PATENTED FEB] 1 I975 F/GZ I F165 1 GRADUATED STICK AND TETHERED BALL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an action toy.
Objects of the invention are to provide an action toy of simple structure, which is inexpensive in manufacture and provides great pleasure, enjoyment, exercise, interest and recreation for children.
In order that the invention may be readily carried into effect, it will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a view of an embodiment of the action toy of the invention in use;
FIG. 2 is a view of the embodiment of FIG. 1 prior to use;
FIG. 3 is a view of the embodiment of FIG. 1 after use and indicating a top score; and
FIG. 4 is a view of the embodiment of FIG. 1 after use and indicating a low score.
In the FIGS., the same components are identified by the same reference numerals.
The action toy of the invention comprises a stick 1] having graduated indications l2, l3, l4, l5, l6, l7, and so on, thereon (FIGS. 2 to 4) extending along its length. The stick 11 is adapted to be manually held at one end 18.
An elastic string 19 is affixed at one end 20 (FIG. 2) to the other end 21 of the stick II.
A rubber ball 22 is affixed to the other end 23 (FIG. 2) of the elastic string 19. The rubber ball is preferably solid.
The graduated indications 12 to 17, and so on, are labelled with numbers decreasing in magnitude from the end 21 of the stick 11, as shown in FIG. 2. These numbers may consist of 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, l, -l,
-2, -3, -4, -5, and so on.
The object of play with the action toy of the invention is to score the most points by swinging the stick 1] over the head so that the ball 22 will move around the stick and will wrap the string 19 around the stick, as shown in FIGS. 1, 3 and 4. The indication 12, which is marked 10, is at the top and is the most difficult to score (FIG. 3). The indication of -5, is near the bottom and the easiest to score (FIG. 4). The players take turns and the one with the most points after a predetermined number of tries is the winner.
While the invention has been described by means of a specific example and in a specific embodiment, I do not wish to be limited thereto, for obvious modifications will occur to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim:
1. An action toy, comprising a stick having graduated indications thereon extending along its length and adapted to be manually held substantially vertically at one end;
elastic string-like means affixed at one end to the other end of the stick; and
a rubber ball affixed to the other end of the stringlike means in a manner whereby the stick is swingable by a user over his head to move the ball around the stick and wrap the string-like means around the stick.
2. An action toy as claimed in claim I, wherein the graduated indications are labelled with numbers decreasing in magnitude from the other end of the stick.
3. An action toy as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ball is solid.

Claims (3)

1. An action toy, comprising A STICK HAVING GRADUATED INDICATIONS THEREON EXTENDING ALONG ITS LENGTH AND ADAPTED TO BE MANUALLY HELD SUBSTANTIALLY VERTICALLY AT ONE END; ELASTIC STRING-LIKE MEANS AFFIXED AT ONE END TO THE OTHER END OF THE STICK; AND A RUBBER BALL AFFIXED TO THE OTHER END OF THE STRING-LIKE MEANS IN A MANNER WHEREBY THE STICK IS SWINGABLE BY A USER OVER HIS HEAD TO MOVE THE BALL AROUND THE STICK AND WRAP THE STRING-LIKE MEANS AROUND THE STICK.
2. An action toy as claimed in claim 1, wherein the graduated indications are labelled with numbers decreasing in magnitude from the other end of the stick.
3. An action toy as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ball is solid.
