When fitting out kitchens, offices, laboratories and the like with furniture, the same is located alongside the walls enclosing a right angle, whereby the corner space of such rooms remains unoccupied; by arranging furniture in this way, the space in the angle portions of the room gets lost. It is known to place chests in such corner spaces, but the chests are uneasily accessible and therefore such corner spaces remain mostly unutilized or otherwise they will be only shut off as an empty space.
A better utilisation of the corner space is achieved by means of revolving chests. Nevertheless even with this system the accessibility to the revolving chest is rather tedious and besides, at least 22 percent of the space are still getting lost.
The object of the invention is to provide a piece of furniture by means of which a right-angled corner of a room should be utilized without the loss of space, whereby the piece of furniture should be easily accessible.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION According to the present invention a piece of furniture to be located in a right-angled corner of a room is characterized by a draw and push mechanism fixed to the outside of said bodies, said draw and push mechanism connecting both the bodies in such a way that by swivelling the first body which has been drawn out of the frame by 90 about its vertical hinges the second body is shifted to occupy the vacant place or to leave it, when the first body is pushed back into the frame.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a plan view of a piece of furniture, partially in section and FIG. 2 is an elevation in section of the same.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS A piece of furniture according to both the figures comprises two bodies I and 2 shiftably arranged in a common frame 3. A right-angled corner of a room is filled with such a piece of furniture, whereby other pieces of furniture A, B are tightly adjoining the same.
Both the bodies 1, 2 are connected with one another by means of a draw and push mechanism fixed to the outside of the same. This mechanism consists of a first lever 4, a second lever 5 and a third lever 6 pivotally connected to one another. The one end of the first lever 4 is fixed to the upper wall of the body 2 and its other end is pivotally connected with one end of the second lever 5, the one end of the third lever 6 being equally pivotally connected with the second lever 5. The other free end of the third lever 6 is provided with a roller 11 being held on a bar 7 by means of a coil spring 8 stretched between this end and the one end of the second lever 5, which bar is fixed to the upper wall surface of the body 1. The bar 7 provided on its one end with a lug 10 is arranged perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the piece of furniture. The second lever 5 extends over the bar 7, its other end being pivotally fixed to. the frame 3. The third lever 6 is equally placed over the bar 7, its end with the roller II being stretched as far as behind the bar 7.
The body 1 is provided with two hinges 9 each of them comprising two plates, the one plate of each hinge being fixed to one side wall of the body I lying far away from the body 2, the other one being fixed to rollers 13, running in a rail 12 on the frame 3. The body I can be shifted on the rollers I3 as well as on a runner I5 situated on the bottom wall of the frame 3-across the whole width of the frame.
The body 2 has four bearing pulleys 14 on its top wall which are running on the frame 3. The body 2 can be shifted on these bearing pulleys 14 across the whole length of the frame 3 in such a way that the direction of its movement is perpendicular to the direction of the movement of the body I.
When the body 1 is drawn out of the frame, the roller 11 of the lever 6 slides on the bar 7 until it springingly enters the lug 10 of the bar 7, when the body has been drawn out. When the body I has been drawn out, the rollers 13 act on the longitudinal side of the frame 3 preventing so the body 1 from being drawn in constantly the straight direction. When swivelling the drawn-out body 1 clockwise around its vertical hinges 9 which get outside the frame 3, the body 2 is pushed by means of the draw and push mechanism on the place made vacant by the body 1 in order to occupy the biggest portion of the same, when the first body has been completely swivelled by The roller 11 of the lever 6 lies in the recess 10a of the bar lug 10. The body 2 is easily accessible in this position.
By swivelling the drawn-out body I from this position counter-clockwise, the roller 11 of the lever 6 enters the recess 10b of the lug 10 so that the draw and push mechanism and the body 2 are pushed and shifted to their original places. In order to maintain the stability of the body I when it is drawn out or pushed in the frame or when it is swivelled, a runner 15 is provided on the frame 3 underneath the body 1.
At the top the piece of furniture is covered by a removable plate (not shown). The piece of furniture can be made of wood, plastics, light metal or other materials.
It is possible to replace the above-mentioned draw and push mechanism consisting of a plurality of levers by a cable line, chain line, rack-end-pinion gear or the like without departing from the inventive concepts of this invention.
