Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARL G. A. F. W. E. PIHL, OF LOWELL, MASSACHUSETTS,
W l N DOW- R E FLECTO R.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 384,784, dated June 19, 1888.
Application filed June 9, 1883. Serial No. 97,528.
. in Window-Reflectors, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to such reflectors.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an oblique view of the vertical rod, two mirrors provided with stems, and an adjustable holder provided with an extension and setscrews; and Fig. 2 is a vertical central crosssection of the same parts at right angles with the stems of the mirrors.
B is a vertical metallic rod secured to a bracketofanyusualconstruction-sayabracket like the one shown in United States Patent No. 182,566, dated September 26, 1876, to C. A. Demling. The holder M is held on the vertical rod B by a set-screw, M, which turns in a threaded hole in the holder M and thrusts against the rod B to keep the holder at the desired height. The holder M is provided on means of adjusting one side with an extension, P. Said extension is drilled through horizontally to receive the stems N N of the two mirrors N N.
(No model.)
Set-screws L L, turning in threaded holes in the extension, are thrust against saidstems N N and hold them in any inclination from avertical plane, so that one of these mirrors may be turned to reflect objects above the observer and the other one objects below him. The mirrors may also be adjusted so that a person standing away from the window may see what is passing in either direction reflected in the mirror.
I claim as my invention- 1. The combination of the rod, the holder provided with an extension, and the mirror provided with stems, the extension of said holder being drilled through horizontally to receive said stems, as and for the purpose specified. 2. The combination of the rod, mirrors provided with stems, and the holder provided with an extension, the extension of said holder being drilled through horizontally to receive said stems, set-screws turning in threaded holes in said extension and thrusting againstsaid stems, and anothersetscrewturningin athreaded hole in said holder and thrusting against the vertical rod, as and for the purpose specified.
