  • the apparatus can also be adjusted so that a coating isobtained on theside faces of the board 10 as well, which is an advantage if the corners oftheboard 10 are damaged.
  • the sectioning slab 21 at the outlet end of the container must be specially shaped or profiled to surround the edge corners of the board. If onlythe edge 20 of the board is to be coated the sectioning slab 21 should have a straight wiping edge.
  • the thickness of the layer applied can be exactly determined and, for'example, chipboards having a porous edge structure can in a single process be given a uniform and smooth coating I and, thanks to the pressure tongue 15, all cavities are well filled and the material injected will be well compressed. In fact, it has beenfound in practice that no after treatment of the layer applied is necessary.

  • Apparatus for coating edge regions of panels or strips, such as chipboards, plywood panels, etc. comprising a container, one'side of which is provided with a slit arranged to hold and guide a board or panel to be treated, the slit being limited by a pair of plates adapted to engage the upper and lower faces of the board at least one of said plates being movable and resiliently biased to be pressed against the board, a wiper member located at the outlet end of the slit adjacent the edge of the board, and an applicator member arranged to engage the edge of the board within said container, said applicator member being adjustably mounted to guide the position of the board with respect to the wiper member and the edge of said board to adjust the thickness of the layer applied.
  • the member comprises a pressure tongue fixed at the end of a pivotable shaft journalled in a yoke extending across the top of the container, said shaft having fixed at its upper end a tongue angularly adjustable by means of a pair of opposed side screws, and a scale for indicating the angular adjustment thereof.
