Abstract
A sieving, screening, filtering or washing machine has a sieving machine frame and a yieldable sieving bottom which is fixed in sections to parallel drivable carriers which are mounted in the frame so as to be tippable by limited amounts about fixed axes. The invention is particularly characterized in that all bottom carriers are continuously pivotally connected with one or two rods swinging in the same direction and thus can be driven in the same tipping direction. The sieving zones are connected from the lower edge of the first carrier to the upper edge of the second carrier and from the lower edge of the second carrier to the upper edge of the third carrier, etc., thereby producing at the same time sieving zones of continuously changing width with differently low hanging curve-like arches or alternately tensioned locations or different tensions between all carriers.

11 Claims, 12 Drawing Figures Pmmau 3019481 SHEEF 20$ 3 SIEVING, SQREENING, FILTERING OR WASHING MACHINE This invention relates to a machine used for operating elastic, half elastic or partially elastic supported sieving or screening filters, sieving or settling bottoms, etc.
Similar sieving, screening, settling or filtering processes are known in case of so-called two path sieving machines which use two carrier systems movable relatively to each other to form transverse or longitudinal sieving zones of continuously changing width with variable differently deep hanging curve-line archings or different tensions.
These processes and machines are comparatively complicated as is apparent from German patents Nos. 1,206,372 and 1,275,339 which describe them.
An object of the present invention is to provide a movement of transverse or longitudinal sieving zones by the use of one system sieving machine.
Other objects will become apparent in the course of the following specification.
1n the accomplishment of the objectives of the present invention it is possible to select, for example, a machine construction as described in the German patent No. 1,275,339, wherein an immovable sieving vat supports tipping carriers which are moved by swinging levers connected to a reciprocating rod.
The basic difference of the present invention from prior art consists in that it does not use two swinging rods shifted by 180 as a drive for moving the two systems. The present invention provides that all carriers are operated by a single system actuated by similar rod or rods and in one direction.
Thus the present invention refers to a simple one system machine.
In order to attain in this machine the tensioning and the untensioning of the individual sieving zones, the present invention uses the consideration that in a parallelogram having the shape of a rhombus the diagonals connect the corners once by a longer stretch and once by a shorter stretch and when these corners are made movable or swingable the sides of the parallelogram can be shifted. Then the diagonals are in one position long and in the other short, depending upon the selected position.
If two corner points are selected between which an elastic connection is stretched, then it will be once tensioned and once untensioned, or once stretched and once loose.
In practice this means that a diagonal connection is provided for two vertical profiles of predetermined length which are rotatably supported in the middle, the diagonal connection extending from under left vertical to over right vertical. When the two verticals are turned to the right by the same angle the diagonal connection becomes longer and when they are turned to the left the same diagonal becomes shorter. In this manner it is possible to stretch and to unstretch elastic sieving bottoms at completely equally movable carriers.
Since this takes place by a diagonal connection, a stepwise arrangement is provided in the form of a cascade which in addition to the great advantage of the preparational procedure for sieving or the like by increased revolving of the provided material, also provides further technical preparational possibilities. When selecting the sieving machine the inclination of the machine is often so selected that the diagonally connected sieving mat is horizontal or has a forwardly inclined shape.
In case of a horizontally extending machine a good transporting movement is also produced when the transportation direction extends in the direction of the inclination of the individual sieving bottom sections. Then the sieving goods are flung perpendicularly to the inclined sieving zone. The projected heights exceed easily the height of the provided carriers which advantageously receive a special preferably elastic coating, for example, of rubber.
An inclination of the machine in the sieving direction will obviously increase the transportation speed.
in the sieving machine of the present invention a very useable solution for the operation of elastic sieving bottoms consists also in that the elastic sieving bottoms, for example, are actually rolled up at an end of the carriers with round cross-sections opposite the transportation direction.
This also provides a tensioning and an untensioning of the individual zones with the additional advantage that the sticking of the wet sieving goods upon the carriers which is always feared, is eliminated, since it is prevented by the sieving mat rolling on and off upon the upper side of the carriers.
No sieving holes ar provided in the rolling zone for purposeful reasons. They lie so that the sieving goods find a free passage in the tension phase and there is no covering by the rolled carrier cross-section.
The basic principle of the machine of the present invention makes possible the use of the correspondingly cut elastic sieving bottoms also in case of multiple separations, filtering requirements or washing processes.
The invention will appear more clearly from the following detailed description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings showing by way of example only, preferred embodiments of the inventive idea.

FIG. 1 shows in a simplified form the principle of the new sieving method with elastical sieving bottoms by the use of one movable system. The mat connected to a fixed point F has a tensioned shape or an untensioned curved shape B if it is connected to a reciprocating point a, b.
This movement can be produced by linear, rotary or tipping movements of the connecting point.
In known constructions both sides of the mat were connected to two points movable opposite each other by 180.
The solution with a single fixed point was not found satisfactory since with heavy sieving goods glueings and stickings are produced which disturb the operation.
FIG. 2 shows the principle of the new solution of the present invention wherein a single moving system makes it possible to produce tension and untensioning of the intermediately connected sieving mat and to hold movable all connecting points of this sieving mat.
The tipping carriers located upon rotary points D have connections for the sieving mats at their upper as well as lower sides so that each sieving mat S is connected once to the lower side of the carrier and once to the upper side of the carrier.
In this manner a diagonal in a parallelogram is produced which is short or long depending upon the position of the narrow sides. Thus in the position of points a, b there is the tensioning condition and in the position designated by points c and d a downwardly hanging position.
FIG. 3 shows the constructive embodiment of the new tensioning principle of the present invention for elastic sieving bottoms when all sieving bottom carriers are actuated in one direction.
The tubular carriers 1 having connecting profiles 2 and 2 are shown in the two end positions into which they are placed by swinging levers 3 and rod 4. The rod 4 can be actuated by excenters and connecting rods or by pneumatic, hydraulic or electromagnetic hoisting drives (not shown).
It is apparent that when the swinging levers are inclined to the left, the elastic sieving mat 5 will assume a concave curved position (which can be also convex).
When the swinging levers are inclined to the right the mat has a tensioned condition indicated by 5 in the drawing, which can be even overtensioned. In this position of the sieving mat the directionally determined drop of the mounted sieve grains takes place, whereby when the sieving machine is in the horizontal position the grains carry out a movement from right to left corresponding to the illustrated arrow.
In case of an inclination to the left the transporting speed will be obviously greater.
The present invention suggests that a preferably elastic covering cap be placed over the carriers upon the side on which the sieving goods run. The cap consists preferably of the same material as the actual sieving mats. It is also possible to pull an undivided mat over the entire length of the sieving surface and to attach it doubly upon the upper and lower sides of the carriers, whereby then the lengths 6 covering the carriers will have no holes, while the lengths or widths located between the carriers will constitute the actual sieving bottom.
FIGS. 4 and 5 show in side view and top view the construction of a sieving machine of the present invention. The basic frame 7 is resiliently mounted upon the ground and carries upon its receiving side an excenter shaft 8 which drives by similarly directed excenter the connected heads 9. These heads reciprocate the rods 4 by connecting feet 10, whereby the tube carriers 1 are actuated by swinging levers 3 to carry out a tipping movement extending to left and right.
Balancing masses 11 are excentrically mounted with their centers of gravity shifted by and have the purpose of balancing the run of the sieving machine.
Covering frames 12 are located above the sieving surface in the usual manner. Their purpose is to provide a seal and hold back the very highly accelerated sieving grains.
FIG. 6 illustrates in detail the locations of the rod 4, the swinging levers 3, the tube carriers 1 and the connecting profiles 2 and 2'.
FIG. 7 also shows the core of the machine of the present invention with the rod 4, the swinging levers 3, the carrier supports 13 and the tube carriers 1.
However, in this embodiment the attaching of the actual sieving mats takes place in a different manner than that shown for example in FIG. 3.
The connecting pieces 2 and 2 shown in FIG. 3 are eliminated in the construction of FIG. 7. In this construction the sieve mats 5 are actually rolled upon and rolled off the carriers 1. This construction is of advantage in many cases wherein the carriers should be prevented from receiving burned pieces.
The length of the sieve mat in the rolled up range does not have any holes to prevent the passage of the grains between the mat and the carrier.
FIG. 8 shows diagrammatically the construction of the present invention wherein two machines are provided with a common drive. The central arrangement of the transporting band 14 makes possible a great output. The excenter connection running while shifted by 180 provides a good balancing of the masses.
A sieving machine of the present invention having a double deck is shown in FIG. 9.
An air filter in an air withdrawing channel is shown by way of example in FIG. 10. Dirty air is introduced through the inlet 14 of the filter in front of the intermediate opening of filter surfaces of the present invention. Dirt particles of the air are withdrawn through the outlet conduit 15 while clean air is removed through the outlet 16.
FIG. 11 shows a side sealing 17 particularly for use on sieving machines and described in detail in the copending German patent application No. P 21 32 163.1. In this construction there is a rhombus-like shifting movement of the frame of this sealing 17.
An arrangement of the sieving machine principle of the present invention in a washing vat or tank 18 is illustrated in FIG. 12. To this vat are supplied through inlet 19, for example, sand masses dirtied by clay and mud. They are cleaned by the intensive rinsing and washing movement of the elastic sieving or settling bottom and are moved in clean condition out of the vat by the inclined movement of the sieving or settling bottom, while the dirty water flows out.
I claim:
1. In a sieving, screening, filtering or washing machine, a device comprising a length of yieldable sieve bottom, a plurality of parallel spaced pivoted carriers forming at least one section, at least one movable rod, means pivotally connecting said rod with said carriers, to provide a uniform swinging movement of said carriers, said sieve bottom extending along said carriers and being connected to a lower edge of one carrier and the upper edge of an adjacent carrier, then to a lower edge of the following carrier and so on along all carriers,
whereby said sieve bottom forms sieving zones between said carriers of variable shapes during the actuation of said carriers.
2. A device in accordance with claim 1, comprising a machine frame and a plurality of carrier sections carried by said frame.
3. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said carriers are tubular, said device comprising means supplying said sieve bottom from above to the lower edge of the first carrier, the connections of the sieve bottom to the carriers permitting a rolling movement of said sieve bottom relatively to the carriers.
4. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means comprise swingable levers connecting said rod with said carriers, said rod being located upon one side of said carriers.
5. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means comprise swingable levers located on opposite sides of said carriers and connected therewith, and two rods located on opposite sides of said carriers and connected and connected with corresponding levers.
6. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said sieve bottom consists of an at least partially elastic material and comprises strengthening folds for attachment to said carriers.
7. A device in accordance with claim 6, wherein said sieve bottom has a side sealing portion conforming to its direction.
8. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein the device extends vertically to constitute a filter.
9. A device in accordance with claim 1, the machine serving as a settling or washing machine and having a container, the device being located in said container in an inclined position.
10. A device in accordance with claim 2, wherein said carrier sections are located one above the other.
11. A device in accordance with claim 2, wherein said carrier sections are located next to each other.
Claims (11)
1. In a sieving, screening, filtering or washing machine, a device comprising a length of yieldable sieve bottom, a plurality of parallel spaced pivoted carriers forming at least one section, at least one movable rod, means pivotally connecting said rod with said carriers, to provide a uniform swinging movement of said carriers, said sieve bottom extending along said carriers and being connected to a lower edge of one carrier and the upper edge of an adjacent carrier, then to a lower edge of the following carrier and so on along all carriers, whereby said sieve bottom forms sieving zones between said carriers of variable shapes during the actuation of said carriers.
2. A device in accordance with claim 1, comprising a machine frame and a plurality of carrier sections carried by said frame.
3. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said carriers are tubular, said device comprising means supplying said sieve bottom from above to the lower edge of the first carrier, the connections of the sieve bottom to the carriers permitting a rolling movement of said sieve bottom relatively to the carriers.
4. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means comprise swingable levers connecting said rod with said carriers, said rod being located upon one side of said carriers.
5. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said means comprise swingable levers located on opposite sides of said carriers and connected therewith, and two rods located on opposite sides of said carriers and connected and connected with corresponding levers.
6. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said sieve bottom consists of an at least partially elastic material and comprises strengthening folds for attachment to said carriers.
7. A device in accordance with claim 6, wherein said sieve bottom has a side sealing portion conforming to its direction.
8. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein the device extends vertically to constitute a filter.
9. A device in accordance with claim 1, the machine serving as a settling or washing machine and having a container, the device being located in said container in an inclined position.
10. A device in accordance with claim 2, wherein said carrier sections are located one above the other.
11. A device in accordance with claim 2, wherein said carrier sections are located next to each other.
