ABSTRACT A device for unwinding a yarn reeled on a bobbin, in a textile machine, which comprises a main support, a yarn guide supporting stem, an eyelet coincident with the axis of rotation of the bobbin, and at least one bobbin carrier, characterized in that said bobbin carrier is driven for continuous or discontinuous rotation in a direction consistent with the yarn unwinding direction, the yarn speed depending on the subsequent a y e h t f 1 0 7 m U u 33 20 2 mw 706%0 1 6 99 W U 45 HH /h2 25 3 a m m M MQ (m 27 a" "411 D 2 m M m H n .m m m m9 .0 m :2 m w mmm C 5 0 m 6 .0 ma mun M w nn e aa r. l TT N 3 PFC. 9 D. mhz e Al mum R 7 Ha 1 9 e .m m msx m v lun l ol C Z F e dl4 nl w SMM m HUM m 3 555 5 UNITED STATES PATENTS 2,064,270 117/23 4 Claims, 2 Drawing Figures PATENTEDJUL 91914 SHEET 1 (IF 2 REGULATOR PMEmEnm 91w SHEET 2 0F 2 REELING DEVICE The present invention relates to reeling machines and has specific reference to an improved reeling device.
It is known in the art that reeling or unwinding a yam carried by a bobbin, in the axial direction thereof, without applying a torsion to this yarn, constitutes a difficult problem.
It is the essential object of the present invention to provide a device capable of performingthis reeling operation in a satisfactory manner.
To this end, the device according to this invention, which comprises a general support carrying a yarn guide stem, at least one bobbin support, is characterized in principle in that the bobbin support is driven for continuous or semi-continuous rotation in the direction corresponding to the yarn unwinding, at a speed depending on the use contemplated for this device.
In the attached drawing:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a device according to this invention, which comprises three unwinding stations, and
FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the lower portion of the device.
As clearly shown in these figures the device comprises a trefoil-shaped support S having a rigid central stem H carrying the yarn guides G.
Secured to the underface of support S are the electric motors M controlled through a switch I, each motor being adapted to drive a separate spindle for imparting a rotational motion to the bobbin B carried by a bottom plate P.
These motors M are of the low-speed type, i.e. revolving at only a few revolutions per minute, but of course a reduction gearing R may be interposed between each motor and the relevant spindle in case the rated motor speed were too high; similarly, a variator may be interposed for adjusting the rotational speed of bobbin B as a function of the desired linear speed or unwinding rate of yarn F. I
Alternately, the rotational speed of the bobbin B could be modified by changing the characteristics of the electric current energizing the motors M.
Finally, automatic switching means (such as delayedaction relays, semi-conductors, torque regulators, etc.) may also be interposed, if desired, in the motor circuits in order to produce an intermittent rotation adapted, through its interruptions, to absorb the slack resulting from an excessive rotational speed in relation to the use contemplated.
The plate P is advantageously cup-shaped and covered by a bell-shaped member C having its top provided with an axial hole Othrough which the yarn is adapted to be inserted.
This plate P may be constructed as shown in FIG. 2 to constitute a positive coupling comprising two complementary elements E 45 the female element E being rigid with the output shaft of the reduction gearing R, the male element B, being rigid with the cupshaped plate.
To this end, the bottom of said cup is formed with a hole K of a shape matching that of said elements E an E so that when this cup-shaped member is disposed between the elements E and E it is rotatably driven.
Advantageously, these elements E E and K have a polygonal configuration.
Of course, the male element E may carry the bobbin driving spindle, but if desired the latter may also be driven from the cup-shaped member P, due to its gravity, by hearing against the bottom of said member.
However, it was noted that a positive drive was a source of yarn breakage and that the simple friction drive was exposed to failures when the bobbin was nearly empty, its weight being insufficient for properly driving it.
To avoid this inconvenience the bobbin flange B comprises an insert in the form of a washer L rigid with the male element E this element being made from a somewhat flexible material in order to absorb any abnormally abrupt relative movement.
Consequently, the element B, may consist of soft plastic material like certain polyamids, tetrafluoroethylene, certain olefines, rubber, etc.
Since the element E, is not intended for re-use, it can be made from a relatively weak material such as expanded polyurethane having however a deformability sufficient to produce the desired damping effect.
I claim:
