Definitions

  • a template trueing device for form wheels having straight lined profile sides consisting of a slide support, a horizontal side which can be displaced on the support parallel to the grinding disc axis and a copying slide conducted at right angles to the grinding disc axis.
  • a shaping diamond is arranged at the lower end of the copying slide and the scanning sides of which extend parallel to the profile side.
  • a scanning spur is arranged at the upper end of the copying slide and 5: STRACT scans the profile of a stationary'template arranged on I the slide support by means of scanning surfaces which extend parallel to the profile sides of the template.
  • two scanning spurs which can be displaced relatively to each other parallel to the grinding disc axis and can be locked, one scanning spur scanning with a scanning surface the right hand profile side of the template and the other scanning spur scanning with a scanning surface the left hand profile side of the template.
  • the invention relates to a template trueing device for form wheels with straight-lined profile sides consisting of a slide support; a slide (horizontal slide) which can be displaced on the support parallel to the grinding disc axis; and a copying slide conducted at right angles to the grindingdisc axis; a shaping diamond which is arranged at the lower end of the copying slide and the scanning sides of which extend parallel to the profile sides; and of a scanning spur which is arranged at the upper end of the copying slide and scans the profile of a stationary template arranged on the slide support by means of scanning surfaces extending parallel to the profile sides of the template.
  • the invention is therefore based on the task to provide a template trueing device for form wheels with straight-lined profile sides which has an appliance for compensating for the wear of the diamond and is, nevertheless of simple construction.
  • This is achieved according to the invention by providing at the top end of the copying slide two parallel scanning spurs which can be displaced relatively to each other parallel to the grinding disc axis and can be locked, one scanning spur scanning with a scanning surface the right-hand profile side of the template and the other scanning spur scanning with a scanning surface the left-hand profile side of the template.
  • the scanning spurs are adjusted according to the measured discrepancy via end measures, dial gauges or by providing suitable adjusting screws in the form of micrometre screws.
  • an automatic adjustment of the scanning spurs is also conceivable.
  • a further development of the inventive idea provides an electric servomotor each for adjusting and locking the scanning spurs, the control of the servomotor being carried out by a nominal-actual-value comparator circuit and the actual values being electromagnetically determined in known manner by means of a gauge placed on the ground work piece profile.
  • FIG. 1 a lateral, partially sectional view of the new trueing device
  • FIG. 2 a section along the line II-Il of FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 3 a top view of the shaping diamond
  • FIG. 4 a front view of a second'form of construction.
  • the horizontal slide-3 is displaceably mounted on a slide support 1 by means of horizontal guideways 2 which extend parallel to the grinding disc axis SS.
  • horizontal at the top and"at the bottom are used, these terms refer to the illustrated embodiment with a horizontal arrangement of the grinding disc axis, the trueing device being'arranged above the grinding disc. If another arrangement of the trueing device or a vertical arrangement of the grinding disc axis is desired, the above terms will have to be changed accordingly.
  • the horizontal slide 3 can be laterally displaced by means of a hydraulic or mechanical feed drive which is not shown.
  • the copying slide '4 is displaceably mounted on the horizontal slide 3 at right angles to the grinding disc axis SS.
  • a shaping diamond supported by the diamond holder 6 is arranged atthe bottom end of the copying slide 4, the height of the diamond holder 6 being adjustable. At the top end of the copying slide 4 there is arranged the scanning device.
  • the latter consists of two scanning spurs 7, 8 which can be displaced relatively to each other parallel to the grinding disc axis SS and can be locked by means of the screws 10.
  • the screws 10 pass through elongated holes 13.
  • the scanning spurs 7, 8 can be adjusted in the direction A by means of the adjusting screws 11,12. It is expedient for the adjusting screws 11, 12 to be devised. as micrometre screws.
  • Each of the scanning spurs 7, 8 has a scanning surface 7a, 8a, the scanning surface 7a operating in conjunction with the left-hand profile side 24 of the copying template 9 and the scanning surface 8a in conjunction with'the right-hand profile side.
  • the scanning surface 70 extends parallel to the profile side 24 and the latter in its turn, extends parallel to the side 5a of the trueing diamond.
  • the scanning surface 8a is parallel to the profile side 25 and the latter; in its turn, is parallel to the tureing side 5b of the trueing diamond 5.
  • the sides 5a, 5b of the trueing diamond extend parallel to the straight-lined profile sides 14a and 14b of the grinding disc 14. In this way there is achieved an exact transfer of the shape of the profile of the template 9 to the grinding disc 14.
  • the profile of the shaping diamond 5 undergoes a continuous change due to wear.
  • the wear of the diamond can now be compensated in a simple way by means of the adjustable scanning spurs 7, 8 described above.
  • the spur 7 scans with its scanning surface 721 the left-hand profile side 24, whereas the scanning spur 8 scans the right-hand side 25 of the template 9.
  • the spurs 7, 8 When wear of the diamond makes itself felt by dimensional discrepancies of the ground work piece, the spurs 7, 8
  • the adjusting screws 11, 12 can be adjusted, after loosening the screws 10 by means of the adjusting screws 11, 12 in accordance with the dimensional discrepancy; this can be done, for example, in known manner by means of end measures, dial gauges or by devising the adjusting screws as micrometre screws.
  • the scanning spur 7 is longer in the direction of the grinding disc 14 than the other scanning spur 8, and it has at its extension a second scanning surface 7b scanning the bottom 26 of the template profile.
  • FIG. 4 An automatic adjustment of the scanning spurs is also possible.
  • Such an automatic compensating device is shown in FIG. 4.
  • the two spurs 7, 8 have a nut 15, 16 and can be displaced relatively to each other via the screws 17, 18 by means of the servomotors l9 and 20 devised as geared motors.
  • the work piece 21 is measured by means of a gauge 22; the horizontal and vertical distance between a specified point of this gauge and the profile of the work piece is determined in known manner by means of an electric sensor, a nominal-actualvalue comparison is carried out in the control apparatus 23, and the se'rvomotors 19, 20 are controlled accordingly.
  • the invention is not limited to the illustrated examples where a negative profile is produced on the grinding disc. It would be possible in the same way to trim a positive profile of a grinding disc and to carry out a compensation of the diamond wear at the same time.
  • a template trueing device for grinding discs having at least a pair of straight-lined profile sides comprising:
  • a shaping diamond mounted on said copying slide adjacent the bottom end thereof, the trimming surfaces of said shaping diamond extending parallel to said pair of profile sides;
  • scanning means mounted on said copying slide adjacent the upper end thereof for scanning the profile of a stationary template arranged on the slide support by means of scanning surfaces extending parallel to the profile sides of the template, said scanning means including two scanning spurs adjacent the upper end thereof and adjustment means for effecting a displacement of said scanning spurs relative to each other parallel to the grinding disc axis, said adjustment means also facilitating a locking of said scanning spurs in a fixed position, one of said scanning spurs being adapted to scan a scanning surface of one profile side of the template and the other of said scanning spurs being adapted to scan a scanning surface of the other profile side of the template.
  • a device wherein said one of said scanning spurs is longer in a direction towards the grinding disc than said other of said scanning spurs, said one of said scanning spurs also having means defining a second scanning surface scanning a bottom portion of the template profile.
  • a device according to claim 1, whereinsaid adjustment means comprises adjusting micrometre screws.
  • said adjustment means comprises one electric servomotor for each scanning spur and a nominal-actual-value comparator circuit including gauge means placed on the ground work piece profile for determining actual ground values.
