A resilient syntheticresin sheet, which conforms to the clamping plate, is removably arranged between the needle bar and the clamping plate.
1 Claim, 2 Drawing Figures MOUNTING SUPPORT FOR THE KNITTING NEEDLE OF A WARP KNITTING MACHINE The present invention relates to improvements in a mounting support for the knitting needles of a warp knitting machine. ln known arrangements of this type. a needle bar with a plurality of grooves receives respective ones of the knitting needles. and a clamping plates is removably mounted on the needle bar for holding the knitting needles on the needle bar, with an intermediate resilient element being removably arranged between the needle bar and the clamping plate. The resilient element extends over the grooves to hold the knitting needles therein.
The intermediate resilient element has been provided to equalize unevenness in the needle bar grooves and- /or in the clamping plate, and has required a more or less fixed mounting. To accomplish this, felt strips have been used and were adhered to the. clamping plate. However, the bonding of a felt strip to the clamping plate is time-consuming and, in addition, the felt strip often is damaged during a needle change.
It is the primary object of this invention to avoid these disadvantages and difficultiesby providing a synthetic resin sheet which conforms to'the clamping plate as .the resilient intermediate element.
According to one preferred embodiment, the synthetic resin sheet has a plurality of projecting members, such as pins or studs, extending into corresponding holes of the clamping plate for holding the clamping plate and resilient element in alignment.
vWith this. type of resilient intermediate element, the same may be affixed to the clamping plate simply and without tools. and may be removed such as readily.
Furthermore. a continuous strip of such an element may be readily manufactured in any desired type of 3.5
synthetic resin sheet material, and then readily cut to size.
The above and other objects, advantages and features of the invention will become more" apparent from the following detailed description of now preferred embodiments thereof. taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing wherein FIG. 1 is a vertical section of the needle mounting support of the present invention; and
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of one embodiment of an intermediate element according to this invention.
As shown in FIG. 1, the knitting needles 1 are received in grooves 2 of needle bar 3 and a hooked end 4 of the needles engages ashoulder 5 of the needle bar. A clamping plate 6 is removably mounted on the needle-bar for holding the needles on the needle bar in the grooves thereof, a lower rim of the clamping plate extending over the hooked ends of the knitting needles, thus subtending the shoulder 5 of the bar. The clamping plate is held in position by wedging plate 8 whic is removably bolted to the bar at 9.
An intermediate resilient element 10 consisting of a synthetic resin sheet is arranged between the needle bar 3 and the clamping plate 6. It conforms to the clamping plate and extends over the grooves 2 to hold the knitting needles 1 therein.
As shown 'in FIG. 2, the synthetic resin'sheet'lO has a plurality of studs 11 which extend into corresponding holes 11a in the clamping plate. The studs and holes are so dimensioned that they interengage so as to hold the sheet and plate in alignment without further fixing means.
What is claimed is: I
1. In a mounting support forthe knitting needles of a warp knitting machine, which comprises a needle bar having a plurality ofgrooves receiving respective ones of the knitting needles, a clamping plate mounted removably on theneedle barvfor holding the knitting needles in the grooves of the needle bar. and an intermediate resilient element removably arranged between the needles in the needles in the needle bar grooves and the clamping plate, the resilient element extending over the grooves to hold the knitting needles therein: the resilient element consisting of a synthetic resin sheet conforming to the clamping plate and having a plurality of projecting members, and the clamping plate having a corresponding plurality of holes receiving respective ones of the projecting members to hold the clamping plate and resilient element in alignment.
