4 Claims, 2 Drawing Figures 1 QUICK CHANGE FILTERING MACHINE This invention relates to filters as used in the plastics industry, and more particularly to a quick change filtering machine. I
It is therefore the principal object of this invention to provide a quick change filtering machine which when in use, will change or replace a dirty filter with a clean one, without production interruption.
Another object of this invention is to provide a filtering machine which will utilize an automatic indicating system which will enable the user to determine when a filter needs replacing.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a machine of the type described which will be supported upon a base frame having a plurality of casters, thus adapting the unit to be mobile.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide a filtering machine of the type described which will have a main body with seals therein, the main body having a plurality of spaced apart rods attached to a mounting plate which will be secured to a hydraulic cylinder, the cylinder being operated by means of a directional valve so as to urge a sliding member plate into the main body, thus effecting a filter change quickly when desired.
The above and other features of the-invention will be further understood from the following description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings wherein:
FIG. 1 is a side view of the present invention-shown in elevation; and
FIG. 2 is a view taken along the line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
According to this invention, a filtering machine is shown to include a metal base frame 11 having aplurality of spaced apart legs 12 to which are secured a caster ,13 which thus renders machine 10 mobile.
Mounted above frame 11 with the main body 14 which is of such structure so as to be capable of withstanding extremely high pressure. without distortion or breakage. A sliding member plate 15 is carried by main body 14 and contains a support plate 16, the sliding member plate 15 being, oscillatable by means which hereinafter will be described.
The sliding member plate 15 serves as a means for enabling another package of screen or filtering material (not shown) to be inserted while the other filtering package (not shown) is functioning.
This function heretofore described, is accomplished by means of a hydraulic cylinder 17 which is powered by a typical hydraulic unit (not shown). The control of the hydraulic cylinder 17 is effected by means of a directional valve 18 which is controlled by a hand lever 19, the valve 18 being secured by suitable means (not shown) to the hydraulic lines 20 and 21. Secured fixedly to main body 14 are a plurality of rods 22 which are secured at their opposite ends by suitable means to the mounting plate 23 at one end of hydraulic cylinder 17.
The sliding plate 15 is supported in a central position upon machine 10 by means of an adjustment screw fastener 24 at one end of base frame 11. The sliding member plate 15 moves along a thrust ring 25 and pressure against a thrust ring 25 is accomplished by means of an adjustable seal 26 which is threaded into the opposite side of body 14. Both of the adjusting seals 25 and 26 are made of a scratch-proof material as is the slide member plate 15. The seal ring 26 fits internally into the adjusting seal 26 and seals while still allowing adjustment of thrust against thrust ring 25.
The whole unit of the body 11 is heated with a high capacity heater 27 external of main body 11 and the explosion-proof wires 28 are secured to the slide plate 15, the opposite ends of wires 28 being secured to the electrical box 29 supported upon post 30 above the main body 14. It will be noted that the present invention is of such structure so as to be extremely versatile for being applied to many different applications.
What I claim is:
1. A quick change filtering machine, comprising a castered base frame, a main body carried by said base frame with adjustable seals, heater means carried by said main body for applying heat to said main body, a
slideable member plate carried by said main body for carrying and changing filters for use in the plastic industry, a plurality of spaced apart rods carried by said main body providing connection means to a mounting plate of a hydraulic cylinder, a directional valve carried by said machine with hand lever means for moving said slide plate, an adjustable screw fastener carried by said machine providing centering means for said slide plate member.
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein, said sliding plate member is freely carried within said rods, said rods being secured to said main body and said seals are carried within said main body and are spaced apart from each other, said sliding member being carried therebetween.

The combination according to claim 2, wherein, said sliding member plate of said device is secured to the piston rod of said hydraulic cylinder, said hydraulic cylinder being supported upon said frame at one end and said main body of said machine being supported upon the opposite end of said frame, said main body being adjustable by screw means within said frame.

The combination according to claim 3, wherein, said adjustment screw fastener carried within said frame soas to urge said main body of said machine up and down so as to center said sliding member plate and said sliding member plate includes a support plate for said filtering screen to be changed and said feeders of said machine are secured fixedly to said main body' and are connected by explosion-proof wires to an electric box which supplies the electric power to said machine, and said hydraulic cylinder urges said sliding member plate into said main body so that effective filter changing may come about.

Claims (4)

1. A quick change filtering machine, comprising a castered base frame, a main body carried by said base frame with adjustable seals, heater means carried by said main body for applying heat to said main body, a slideable member plate carried by said main body for carrying and changing filters for use in the plastic industry, a plurality of spaced apart rods carried by said main body providing connection means to a mounting plate of a hydraulic cylinder, a directional valve carried by said machine with hand lever means for moving said slide plate, an adjustable screw fastener carried by said machine providing centering means for said slide plate member.
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein, said sliding plate member is freely carried within said rods, said rods being secured to said main body and said seals are carried within said main body and are spaced apart from each other, said sliding member being carried therebetween.

The combination according to claim 2, wherein, said sliding member plate of said device is secured to the piston rod of said hydraulic cylinder, said hydraulic cylinder being supported upon said frame at one end and said main body of said machine being supported upon the opposite end of said frame, said main body being adjustable by screw means within said frame.
4. The combination according to claim 3, wherein, said adjustment screw fastener carried within said frame so as to urge said main body of said machine up and down so as to center said sliding member plate and said sliding member plate includes a support plate for said filtering screen to be changed and said feeders of said machine are secured fixedly to said main body and are connected by explosion-proof wires to an electric box which supplies the electric power to said machine, and said hydraulic cylinder urges said sliding member plate into said main body so that effective filter changing may come about.
