Abstract

A billiard table for playing a ''''crazy pool'''' game, the table including a transparent flat glass playing surface with a paper sheet there-below on which is imprinted a set of radiating lines that radiates from each pocket so to aid in directing a shooting of a ball toward the specific pocket, a series of permanent magnets hidden below the imprinted paper sheet so to divert the intended course of the ball, each of the balls being made of rubber with an iron core for responding to the magnet attraction, the iron core being possibly off center to increase the probability of an eccentric course of travel, and the pool table having a formed steel cushion or any other non-resilent material such as wood, molded plastic or molded hard rubber, instead of a conventional rubber cushion around its edge for being hit by the balls.

A principal object of the present invention is to provide a novel pool table on which a crazy pool game can be played, and in which game the billiard balls may travel on an unpredictable, unintended course of travel.
Another object is to provide a pool table in which the playing surface is transparent so to allow view of an imprinted paper on which is seen a series of lines radiating from each pocket so to aid in directing a shot toward any specific pocket.
Yet another object is to provide a pool table having hidden magnets under the imprinted paper so to influence a course of travel of a billiard ball.
Yet another object is to provide a pool table in which the balls are of rubber and an iron core for being effected by the magnets, the core being possibly off center for erratic course of the ball.
Yet another object is to provide a pool table in which the rebound cushion around the edge is of formed steel, or any other non-resilient material such as wood, molded plastic, or molded hard rubber, instead of rubber.
Other objects are to provide a pool table which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use, and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wheren:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the invention.
FIG. 2 is an enlarged cross section taken on line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 is a cross section of a ball taken on line 3-3 of FIG. 2.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral represents a pool table according to the present invention, wherein there is a playing surface 1 1 made of flat transparent glass 12 so to allow visibility of a printed diagram on a paper sheet 13 therebelow, the diagram 14 consisting of sets of lines 15 that extend radially from each pocket 16.
A supporting panel 17 under the sheet 13 has a series of pockets 18 in which permanent magnets 19 may be removably placed. Alternately these may be electro magents externally controlled to be magnetically active.
Billiard balls 20 used on the playing surface are made of an iron core 21 enclosed in a rubber sphere 22. The core may be eccentrically positioned.
A bumper cushion 23 around the edges of the table playing field is made of formed steel or any other nonresilient material such as wood, molded plastic, or molded hard rubber, instead of conventional resilient rubber.
The pool table may be made in any size such as professional size or small children size.
In playing crazy pool the magnets are employed as well as balls in which the core is off center. Thus there is fun in applying skill to overcome the erratic path travelled by the balls. In a normal game, the magnets are not used and and normally centrally balanced balls are used.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it isunderstood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as is defined by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. In a new type of pool table, the combination of a table having a playing surface of transparent flat glass forming a playing field, and a plurality of billiard balls upon said playing field, ball pockets conventionally positioned around said playing field, a paper sheet being placed below said glass, said sheet having a diagram visible thereupon including means for directing a ball shot toward any of said pockets, said directing means comprising sets of radial lines extending from each said pocket, a base panel below said paper sheet including pockets within a central portion thereof in which magnets are placed, said balls being of rubber and having an iron core, said core in certain of said balls being off center, and a bumper cushion around said playing field being formed of a non-resilient material.
