Application filed October 6, 1887.
Be it known that I, PHILLIP SIMLER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Allenvillejn the countyof Cape Girardeau and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Railroad-Ties and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same,
reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which forma part. of this specification.
My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in attachments for railroadties, whereby the ties may be securely held in position in such localities where the road-bed is liable to be washed away; and my invention consists in providing supports adjacent-to the ties at suitable intervals, which are driven into the solid ground upon which the made road-bed rests, and connecting the ties to said piles or supports by straps or bars, so as to hold them securely in place, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
