2 Claims, 3 Drawing Figures Patented April 24, 1973 INVENTOR AGQPIAN FIG.2
' HAROUTUN H ATTORNEY SANITARY SIPl-ION BIDET BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field Of The Invention This invention relates to bidets, but is more particularly directed to a bidet used in connection with the conventional toilets having flush tanks.
2. Description Of The Prior Art The conventional bidets that are used in conjunction with the toilets connect directly to water under pressure as their source of water supply. These devices are complicated and must use pressure reducing valves in order to reduce the normal household water pressure to a proper water pressure. Normal household pressure is too strong for bidet purposes for two reasons, namely, high pressure can cause damage to the tissues of a persons body as well as spraying other parts of ones body not intended to be sprayed due to the high pressure of the water.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Therefore, a principal object of the present invention is to provide a bidet that utilizes the water of a conventional flush tank type toilet without other pressure than normal siphon flow.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a siphon bidet that is simple in construction, inexpensive in cost and simple to mount in ones flush tank and also simple to operate.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a siphon bidet with an inflexible pipe that extends from outside a flush tank to adjacent the inside bottom thereof with a flexible tube attached thereto with a cuplike member that operates as a valve to control the flow of fluid therethrough.
A still further object of the present invention is to provide a siphon bidet described as above with a peg attached to the end of the inflexible pipe that engages a tab secured to the cup-like member for supporting the end of the flexible tube.
With these and other objects in view, the invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, with the understanding, however, that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawing but may be changed or modified so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claims.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING:
In the drawing:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional toilet having a flush tank on which my siphon bidet is mounted for use therewith.
FIG. 2 is a detail and fragmentary cross sectional view of the flush tank taken along the line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 is a similar view of my siphon bidet.
Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals are used to designate similar parts throughout the several views, the numeral 10 refers to my siphon bidet which consists of an elongated section of substantially inflexible pipe 12 extending from the top of a flush tank 11 to ad acent the bottom thereof. The pipe 12 15 provided with a double bend as at l3, 14 forming a short section 15 that rests on the top edge of the flush tank 11 and a pipe end portion 16 extending downwardly along the outside wall of the flush tank 1 1.
To the end portion 16 of the inflexible pipe 12 there is telescopically mounted a length of substantially flexible tubing 17 on whose end portion 18 is a flow control member 20. The flow control member 20 consists of a portion of rigid tube 21 closed off at one end by a wall 22 while the other end 23 is open for receiving the end 18 of the flexible tubing 17. On the end wall 22 is a tab 28 provided with an opening 24 through which a peg 25 extends, the peg 25 being mounted on the end portion 16 of the inflexible pipe 12. When the end portion 18 of the flexible tubing 17 is bent on itself as shown by the drawing and inserted into the flow control member 20, the flow of fluid is completely stopped therethrough.
In the normal use of my sanitary siphon bidet 10, the inflexible pipe 12 is placed within the flush tank 1 1 with the free end 16 on the outside of the tank 11. The pipe 12 and 13 are then made to be filled with water by either effecting a suction at the end 18 of the flexible tubing 17 or by pouring water into the tubing 17 and then bending the end portion 18 on itself and inserting the bent portion into flow control member 20. Water will then remain in the pipe 12 and tubing 17 until such time as a person wishes to use the bidet. All he need do is withdraw the bent portion 18 from the flow control member 20 and direct the flow of water therefrom to the part of his body that he wishes to spray. Water will flow from the flush tank 11 through the pipe 12 and tubing 17 to be discharged by the end portion 18 by a siphon effect since the water level in the flush tank 1 1 is higher than the point of discharge of water by the tubing 18. This water will flow softly and with enough pressure to discharge the water onto the persons body being washed.
Having disclosed my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
I claim:
1. A sanitary siphon bidet for use with a flush tank comprising a substantially inflexible pipe extending from adjacent the bottom wall inside the flush tank and extending over the top edge of the wall of the flush tank, said pipe terminating in downwardly extending portion adjacent the top edge of said flush tank, a peg mounted on said last named portion, a substantially flexible tubing telescopically connected to said downwardly extending end of said pipe, the free end of said flexible tubing being bent upon itself, a cup-like member receiving said bent portion and controlling the flow of fluid therethrough and means mounting said cup-like member on said peg.
2. The structure as recited by claim 1 wherein said last name means comprises a tab secured to said cuplike member, said tab having an opening receiving said peg.
