Abstract

A device for storage and dispensing travellers for use on the rings of ring spinning, twisting and doubling frames comprises and E shaped frame having two outer legs and a central leg to receive the travellers, a yieldable pointer and pointer body of channel shape slidably mounted on the outer legs to dispense travellers one at a time as the pointer is moved over the travellers or as the travellers are pushed under the pointer by a push slide channel shaped stops being provided on the outer legs adjacent their free ends to limit the movement of the slide body.

3 Claims, 3 Drawing Figures DEVICES FOR HOLDING TR-AVELLERS FOR USE ON RINGS F RING SPINNING, TWISTING, DOUBLING AND LIKE FRAMES This invention relates to improvements in devices on which travellers for use on the rings of ring spinning, twisting, doubling and like frames can be placed for transporting them from the manufacturer to the user and from which they can be dispensed one at a time by the operative for placing them on to a ring, or from which they can be removed onto the magazine of a tool for placing travellers on the aforesaid ring, or which can form the replacement part of such a magazine.

The British specification No. 1,145,202 describes a device comprising a strip of a plastics material of cross sectional dimensions such as to hold the travellers with which it is to be loaded, one end of the strip being deformable when sufficient force is applied to the traveller to cause it to pass over the end for the purpose of dispensing it, and which will return to the traveller retaining position after the passage of the traveller.

We have now found that having assembled the traveller s onto a strip or rod it is sometimes desirable to dispense the travellers from the strip or rod one at a time manually without the employment of a magazine tool such as described in the US. Pat. Nos. 3,490,127 and 3,574,255.

The invention comprises an E shaped frame having two outer legs and a central leg to receive the travellers, a push slide on the central leg adjacent the base end thereof, a pointer integral with a substantially channel shaped body slidably mounted on the outer legs yieldably allow the travellers to be dispensed and an adjustable channel shaped stop adjacent the free ends of the legs to retain the pointer body thereon.

A holder A for the travellers I in the form of an E shaped frame having two outer legs a and a central leg a. The travellers 1 are transferred from a strip or rod onto the central leg a from the free end after the insertion of a push slide Home the leg.

A movable pointer body C formed with sides or flanges of channel shape slides on the legs a. Channel shaped stops C connected by a cross member C are mounted adjacent the free ends of the legs a and are adjustably affixed thereto.

The underside of the pointer C is raised from the legs a by transverse supports C to clear the tops of the travellers. The crossmember C is provided with an upwardly projecting member C to support the free end of the central leg a. A pointer C formed integrally with the body C is bent downwards to contact the central leg a and then slide onto the legs a hold the travellers I in position compressed against the base a on the holder A.

As shown in FIG. 1 the travellers are dispensed by moving the pointer body C in the direction of the arrow the pointer C. As the pointer C is moved over the travellers the point yields and travellers are released one at a time or in predetermined numbers on to a ma azine for dis ensing by a magazine to ol.

lternatively he travelers may be dispensed from the holder A by pushing the slide B in the direction of the arrow FIG. 2, and arranging the pointer body C in contact with the stops C, the pointer C yeilding to allow the travellers 1 to be dispensed one at a time or in predetermined numbers as hereinbefore described.

What I claim is:

I. A device for storage and dispensing travellers for use on the rings of ring spinning, twisting and doubling frames the invention comprising an E shaped frame consisting of two outer legs and a central leg to receive the travellers and a base integral with one end of the three legs, a push slide carried by the central leg adjacent the base, a channel shaped pointer body slidably mounted on the two outer legs to span the central leg and a pointer integral with the pointer body and inclined downwards to engage the central leg to yieldably allow the travellers to be dispensed one at a time thereunder and an adjustable channel shaped stop engaging the outer legs adjacent thierfree ends to limit the movement of the slider body.

A device for storage and dispensing travellers for use on the rings of spinning, twisting and doubling frames as in claim I having a transverse member extending between the portions of the stop engaging the outer legs and an integral member projecting upwards from the transverse member to engage and support the central leg.

3. A device for storage and dispensing travellers for use on the rings of spinning, twisting and doubling frames as in claim 2 having supports between the pointer body and the outer legs to raise the body therefrom.

Claims (3)

1. A device for storage and dispensing travellers for use on the rings of ring spinning, twisting and doubling frames the invention comprising an E shaped frame consisting of two outer legs and a central leg to receive the travellers and a base integral with one end of the three legs, a push slide carried by the central leg adjacent the base, a channel shaped pointer body slidably mounted on the two outer legs to span the central leg and a pointer integral with the pointer body and inclined downwards to engage the central leg to yieldably allow the travellers to be dispensed one at a time thereunder and an adjustable channel shaped stop engaging the outer legs adjacent thierfree ends to limit the movement of the slider body.

2. A device for storage and dispensing travellers for use on the rings of spinning, twisting and doubling frames as in claim 1 having a transverse member extending between the portions of the stop engaging the outer legs and an integral member projecting upwards from the transverse member to engage and support the central leg.

3. A device for storage and dispensing travellers for use on the rings of spinning, twisting and doubling frames as in claim 2 having supports between the pointer body and the outer legs to raise the body therefrom.
