Abstract
A toy boat for a child, the boat having toy guns that spray water, each of the toy guns being connected by a pipe to a diverted chamber within which there is a slideable diverter piston movable against compression coil springs adjacent each opposite ends thereof, the diverter chambers communicating through one way valves to stortch chambers into which water is admitted through a one way valve in the hull, and each of the storage chambers being connected by a flexible hose to a hand held rubber bulb pump so to move the water for spraying out of the guns.

A principal object of the present invention is to provide a novel toy battleship wherein toy guns serve to spray jets of water.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a toy battleship wherein the guns are activated by means of hand held rubber bulb pumps.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a toy battleship wherein activating one of the guns causes the ship to reverse or stop if it has been moving.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a toy battleship wherein when another of the guns is activated, the ship will turn to port and wherein another of the guns when activated will cause the ship to turn toward starboard. I
Still another purpose of the present invention is to provide a toy battleship wherein when two of the guns are operated alternately, they will drive the ship forwardly.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a toy battleship which will give diversion and enjoyment to a small child in a harmless way.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a toy battleship which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a starboard side elevation view of the present invention,
FIG. 2 is a blow up view of the pumping system of the present invention, and
FIG. 3 is a side elevation view of a tennis ball supported on a wire ring holder secured by a suction cup to a swimming or water pool wall.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral 1 represents a toy battleship according to the present invention which incorporates a pumping system 2.
The ship 1 includes a forward mid ship gun 3 that is attached to a pipe 3a. The ship 1 is also comprised including an after port gun 4 connected to one end of a pipe 4a. Additionally there is an after starboard gun 5 connected to one end of a pipe 5a.
The present invention includes a hand held rubber bulb pump 6 for controlling the port gun and a hand held rubber bulb pump 7 for controlling the starboard gun. These communicate with the pumping system to be here after described.
A port storage ball valve 8 is shown contained within a port storage valve sleeve 8a. Likewise there is a port diverter ball valve 9. It is now evident that these form oneway valves to an intake and an outgo side of a water storage tank or chamber shown at 13. A starboard storage ball valve 10 is fitted in a starboard storage valve sleeve 100. There is also a starboard diverter ball valve 11. These provide one way valves to the inlet and outlet ports of a starboard storage chamber 14. These outlet valves9 and 11 communicate with a port diverter chamber 15 and a starboard diverter chamber 16 respectively within which there is located a slideable diverter piston 12 which is positioned between a port coil spring 17 and a starboard coil spring 18 so that openings transversely through the 10 so that water from outside of the boat and upon which it floats can be moved inwardly into the boat and passed screen caps 25 positioned over each of the valves 8 and 10.
A pipe 28 comprising a flexible hose of the like is connected at one end to the port storage chamber 13 and at its opposite end is connected to the hand held rubber bulb pump 6. Likewise a pipe 29 comprising a flexible hose is connected at one to the starboard storage chamber 14 and at its opposite end is connected to the hand held rubber bulb pump 7.
On top of the battleship there are positioned a port table tennis ball 19 and a starboard table tennis ball 20.
In order to maintain the battleship in an upright position a ballister 27 is located in a lower part of the hull 30. for purposes of stability.
As shown in FIG. 3 of the drawing, a table tennis ball 21 is supported upon a wire ring holder 22 that is affixed to a suction cup 23 for attachment to a swimming or water pool wall 32.
As shown in FIG. 1 of the drawing, by selectively manipulating the hand held rubber bulb pumps'6 and 7, water spray 31 can be discharged from the guns 3, 4 and 5 selectively as desired.
The table tennis balls 19 and 20 placed upon recesses on the bridge of the boat serve as targets when two of the battleships one are fighting against each other. The ball 31 mounted on a side wall of the bathtub or pool wall serve the same purpose. The balls will fall off when hit by the spray of water thus giving a successful shot to the opposing battleship.
The entire ship can be made of plastic, and all other parts of inexpensive structure.
In operative use, when the gun 3 is operated, the ship will reverse or stop if it has been moving. This is according to Newtons law. When the gun operated, the ship will turn to port. When the gun 4 is operated, the ship will turn to starboard. When the guns 4 and 5 are operated alternately, the ship will travel forwardly.
Thus there is provided a toy battleship for amusement of small children in a harmless way. The stem guns 4 and 5 point diagonally at approximately 30 degrees from the forward-rearward axis so to obtain turning moment.
What I now claim is:
1. In a toy battleship, the combination of a hull, said hull having a ballast in a lower part thereof for stability, an upper side of said hull supporting a mid ship forward gun and a pair of rear guns, said rear guns each being directed slightly toward one side so that one thereof is a port gun and the other of which is a starboard gun, said port and starboard guns thus aiming in a diagonally direction between a side and a rear of said boat, each of said guns being connected to one end of a flexible pipe which at its opposite end communicates with a diverted chamber within which a diverted piston is slidable, and springs bearing against opposite ends of said piston so to selectively communicate said diverted chamber with certain of said communicating pipes to said guns.

3. The combination as set forth in claim 2 wherein an individual hand held rubber bulb pump communicates with each one of said storage chambers for forcing said water so to spray out of said guns.
Claims (3)
1. In a toy battleship, the combination of a hull, said hull having a ballast in a lower part thereof for stability, an upper side of said hull supporting a mid ship forward gun and a pair of rear guns, said rear guns each being directed slightly toward one side so that one thereof is a port gun and the other of which is a starboard gun, said port and starboard guns thus aiming in a diagonally direction between a side and a rear of said boat, each of said guns being connected to one end of a flexible pipe which at its opposite end communicates with a diverted chamber within which a diverted piston is slidable, and springs bearing against opposite ends of said piston so to selectively communicate said diverted chamber with certain of said communicating pipes to said guns.
2. The combination as set forth in claim 1 wherein said diverted chamber comprises an individual chamber at each opposite end thereof, each of said individual chambers being adaptable to receive water from the outside of said hull, said water being movable through a one way valve into a storage chamber and then through another one way valve into said individual diverted chamber.
3. The combination as set forth in claim 2 wherein an individual hand held rubber bulb pump communicates with each one of said storage chambers for forcing said water so to spray out of said guns.
