Abstract

A frame, shaped somewhat like a spectacle frame, fits over the nose and ears. Templates may be slipped on to the temples or the nose piece of the frame to assist in shaping sideburns or mustache. A calibrated scale locates the template position.

Exemplary of the difficult to align devices are the single stencil guides wherein each side of the face must be marked one at a time. Here, the tendency is to make one hair line a little crooked, as compared to the other hair line. Therefore, variations of these stencils sometimes provide handles, guides or the like for engaging some other part of the head, such as an ear, the bridge of the nose, a frontal bone, or the like. This does not work very well, since everyone has a slightly different kind of coordination facility. One person may be able to manipulate the device, and yet another person may find it impossible to so manipulate it. Exemplary of the uncomfortable devices are adhesive bandages or templates which tend to tear at the skin and to pull out the facial hair when removed. Accordingly, an object of my invention is to provide a device that may be applied with ease to any man. Here an object is to provide a universal fitting device.

Another object of my invention is to provide a device that may be applied to either side of the face. Here an object is to provide a calibrated device to obtain'identical hair line locations on both the right and left side of theface." I I Still another object of the invention is to provide a standard support, to which templates for trimming either sideburns or mustaches may be applied. A further object of my invention is to provide a device that'accommodates any of many templates-o various shapes, forms or contours. v

A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of the described type to accommodate the hair line templates by-clamping or by adherent support. The present tendency is for men to design their facial hair styling toward exotic sideburns and mustaches. Therefore, the invention provides a device that enables the user to selectany template of any suitable shape and of varied design to be supported and held in any desired position- The template may beeasily. applied and removed, with calibrations for always returning the template position adjustment to an identical location, on either side of the face. The device is simple in construction and economicalto manufacture.

' Other and further objects of my invention will become more apparent as the description proceeds, when taken in conjunction with the'drawings, in which:

The nose portion 12 is equipped with two downwardly extending flat members 14. The ear and temple pieces 11 have flat surfaces 15 These units and 15 provide a means for attaching and supporting templates, shown as 16, in they various views. These templates 16 may be constructed of any rigid sheet material, such as metal or plastic, The support member 10, ear and temple pieces 11, and nose portion 12 may also be molded of plastic, stamped from metal, or the v like.

' The method of attaching the templates 16 to the ear and templepieces 11 or flat members 14 on the nose portions may vary. In FIGS. 4 and 5, I show the template 16 attached to the ear and temple piece ll, by means of a clamping unit shown as l7..(see FIG. 6).

This clamping unit may be easily snapped into place and may easily slide into any predetermined location.

The location'of the template hairline is guided by the calibrations shown at 18 on the surfaces 15. The template 16 may be moved upward or downward, guided by the calibrations 19 formed thereon. These calibrations 18 and 19 (which may be identified by letters or on both sides thereof for making contact between the surface 15 and template 16 (see FIG. 8).

The templates 16 are constructed of any suitable flat material, may be of any form, shape or contour, and may be reversed to provide identical left "and right shapes applied to the left or right side of the users head or face. Also, the templates may be attached to either the surface 15 for sideburns or to the flat members 14 v for mustaches. I

From the above description it will become apparent that the device constituting my invention is positive in performance and function. Although I have shown a specific construction and arrangement of the 'parts and features, many changes may be made without affecting their operativeness.-Therefore, l reserve the rightsto make such changes as do not-depart from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the appended claims.

A hair line guide, frame and support device comprising: a horizontal frame unit following the eyebrow arch and resting on the bridge of the users nose, a pair of ear andtemple frame members hinged to the outer ends of the horizontal frame unit, flat vertical surfaces depending from the. nose bridge unit, template means for providing the hair line guide,. and clip means bridging said template means and snapped over said temple frame member movablyattaching said template to said temple frame member, said clip means having a flat portion that is slightly wider than the width of said temple frame members, said flat portion terminating in a pair of clips contoured to'resiliently fit contiguously 3. 4. The device of claim 3 and a plurality of said templates having different contours for interchangeable a't-j tachment to said device.

Claims

1. A hair line guide, frame and support device comprising: a horizontal frame unit following the eyebrow arch and resting on the bridge of the user''s nose, a pair of ear and temple frame members hinged to the outer ends of the horizontal frame unit, flat vertical surfaces depending from the nose bridge unit, template means for providing the hair line guide, and clip means bridging said template means and snapped over said temple frame member movably attaching said template to said temple frame member, said clip means having a flat portion that is slightly wider than the width of said temple frame members, said flat portion terminating in a pair of clIps contoured to resiliently fit contiguously over said ear and frame members with said template means clampingly held against the outer surfaces of said ear and temple frame members at a desired position for use as the hairline guide.

2. The device of claim 1 and calibration scale means on said temple frame members for horizontally positioning said template.

3. The device of claim 2 and calibration scale means on said temple frame member for vertically positioning said template.

4. The device of claim 3 and a plurality of said templates having different contours for interchangeable attachment to said device.
