Schultz Att0rneyRobert D. Teichert and Donald J. Koprowski ABSTRACT A merchandising fixture for displaying a stack of articles has a clamp for attaching the fixture to the edge of a shelf and a support arm adapted to have attached thereto one of said articles to form a base for the stack thereof.
1 Claim, 4 Drawing Figures P'A'TENTEflncI 10 m2 Inventor Donald R. Jacobs MERCHANDISING FIXTURE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to merchandising fixtures and particularly to a fixture that can easily be clamped to a shelf to display a stack of articles.
It is the primary object of the invention to provide a fixture that will enable a stack of articles to be displayed in strategic locations in stores such as supermarkets without taking up any additional shelf space. For example, a stack of bake pans may be displayed for sale adjacent to the shelves where bake mixes which would be used in the pan would be sold.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The above-mentioned object is attained by providing a fixture having a clamp structure which is adapted to be attached to the edge of a shelf and a support arm adapted to have attached thereto one of the articles to form a base for the stack thereof.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is an elevational view, partially cross-sectioned, of the fixture of my invention.
FIG. 2 is a plan view thereof.
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the fixture showing a clamp having the support arm integral therewith.
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the fixture showing a clamp having its upper jaw and upright member separately secured to the support arm.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring to the drawings, the merchandising fixture is comprised generally of a clamp structure 12 and support arm 14. The clamp structure 12 has a generally C-shaped main body 16. The C-shape is defined by an upright member 18, and upper and lower jaws 20 and 22 respectively. The jaws 20 and 22 extend in the same direction from upright member 18. One of the jaws, preferably lower jaw 22, has a threaded bore 24 adapted to receive a threaded bolt 26. The bolt 26 preferably includes a contact plate 28 and means 29 for manually turning the bolt 26. Thus, by turning the bolt 26, the edge of a shelf 30 or the like may be wedged between the upper jaw 20 and contact plate 28.
Preferably, an article, such as pan 32 is secured to the support arm 14 to serve as a base for a stack of like articles. Obviously, the shape of the support arm may vary to accommodate different shapes of articles. An aperture 34 may be provided in the support arm 14 to enable the pan 32 to be affixed simply by means of a screw 36 and bolt 38, or any other suitable means may be employed.
The simplicity of manufacture of the preferred embodiment is obvious from the form presented in the drawings. A rectangular strip of metal need only be lanced to form lower jaw 22 of the clamp structure 12, and then bent into the form shown, and bore 29 and aperture 34 provided. The upright member 18 of the C- shaped main body 16 of clamp structure 12 will, of course, have an aperture 40 remaining after the lancing and bending operations are completed, as shown in Another method of manufacture would be to provide a rectangular strip of metal that would comprise the support arm 14 and lower jaw 22, and then attach another member comprising the upper jaw 20 and upright member 18 by welding, riveting or other means to the support arm to form the C-shaped main body 16, as shown in FIG. 4.
It is thought that the invention and many of its attendant advantages will be understood from the foregoing description and it will be apparent that various changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention or sacrificing all of its material advantages, the form hereinbefore described being merely a preferred embodiment thereof.
I claim:
1. A one piece metallic merchandising fixture adapted to be fastened to the edge of a shelf or the like to display a stack of articles said fixture comprising a clamp structure having a generally C-shaped main body, the C-shape being defined by an upright member and upper and lower jaws extending in the same direction from each end of said upright member, said upright member of said main body having a central portion thereof bent to form said lower jaw said lower jaw having a threaded bore, a bolt dimensioned to be received by said threaded bore, said bolt cooperating with the other jaw to firmly engage said shelf, and a support arm extending from said upright member in the opposite direction from that of said jaws, said support am being adapted to have attached thereto one of said articles to form a base for said stack thereof.
