A principle object of the present invention is to provide a guitar safety strap that includes means whereby the strap will not accidentally disengage its support of the guitar. It is well known that when the strap button holes become worn the guitar strap button may more easily slip out therefrom accidentally, so that the guitar is in danger of accidentally falling. This situation is of course objectionable and serious in view of danger of damage to the instrument if thus dropped.
Accordingly, it is another object of the present invention to provide a guitar safety strap wherein the strap button holes are reinforced by a separate clip aligned therewith the clip having a central opening aligned with the strap button hole so to also receive the guitar strap button; the metal clip forming a positive non-deformable grasp for the strap button so to assure a secure attachment of the strap and guitar at 'all times.
Yet another object is to provide a guitar safety strap that can be readily disengaged from the guitar when positively so desired.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds.
To the accomplishment of the above and related objects, my invention may be embodied in the form illustrated in the accompanying drawings, attention being called to'the fact, however, that the drawings are illustrative only, and that changes may be made in the specific construction illustrated and described within the scope of the appended claims.
FIG. 1 is a rear elevation view of a guitar strap incorporating the invention.
FIG. 2 is a side edge view thereof.
FIG. 3 is a rear elevation view on a reduced scale of the invention incorporated in a modified design of guitar strap.
FIG. 4 is a side view of a strap incorporating the invention and shown supporting a guitar.
row neck 19 of button 14 can be fitted therein. The opposite end of the clip 15 has an opening 20 punched therethrough so to receive a rivet 21 after the edge 22 is fitted into a pocket 23 formed by the end 24 of strap end sec '0 12 bein laced ad'acent a s e of a ce ter section (as shovn at one eiid) or roi ed over ter being inserted through a ring 25 (as shown at an opposite end) and secured by the rivets; the ring enjoining the end section 12 to the central section 26 of the strap.
The button 14 may comprise a roller 27 fitted on screw 28.
In operative use, it is now evident that when the button 14 is fitted through both openings 13 in the leather end 12 and the opening 16 in the metal clip, that even after the leather opening wears, the opening in the metal clip will positively retain the button.
It will be further noted that the clip 15 will not mar the guitar surface or cause any damage thereto, due to its relative position with the guitar surface.
While certain novel features of my invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claims, it will be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a guitar safety strap the combination of a strap unit detachably attachable at its opposite ends to a guitar, so to support the same around a players neck, the strap unit being comprised of a central section enjoined at its opposite ends by a ring to end sections FIG. 5 is showing the device in use secured to a guitar.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral 10 represents a GUITAR SAFETY STRAP according to the present invention wherein the same supports a guitar 1 1.
The opposite end sections 12 of the strap 10 each includes a button hole 13 for receiving a strap button 14 mounted on a guitar 11. The strap ends 12 are usually made of leather, and the holes 13 therethrough after long use become worn so that they may only weakly hold the button; thus the same may easily accidentally disengage.
In the present invention, the above described con made of leather, each of which has a slotted buttonhole for receiving a strap button secured at opposite ends of said guitar, and means to prevent accidental disengagement of said button from said button hole, wherein said means comprises a metal clip having a central slotted opening for being aligned with said button hole of said leather end section, one end only of said opening being large enough so to receive a head of said button therethrough.
2. The combination as set forth in claim 1 wherein one end of said clip is fitted under a rolled over end of said leather end section after being fitted through said ring, said clip end together with said rolled over leather end then being riveted in position by rivets.

Claims (2)

1. In a guitar safety strap the combination of a strap unit detachably attachable at its opposite ends to a guitar, so to support the same around a player''s neck, the strap unit being comprised of a central section enjoined at its opposite ends by a ring to end sections made of leather, each of which has a slotted button-hole for receiving a strap button secured at opposite ends of said guitar, and means to prevent accidental disengagement of said button from said button hole, wherein said means comprises a metal clip having a central slotted opening for being aligned with said button hole of said leather end section, one end only of said opening being large enough so to receive a head of said button therethrough.
2. The combination as set forth in claim 1 wherein one end of said clip is fitted under a rolled over end of said leather end section after being fitted through said ring, said clip end together with said rolled over leather end then being riveted in position by rivets.
