Description

UNITED. i STATES NPATENT OFFICE.
BEN GONZALES, OF GOODLAND, INDIANA.
Specification forming part o Letters Patent No. 36,777, dated October 2B, 1862.
To @ZZ whom itlmwy concern:
Be it known that I, BEN GONZALES, of Goodland, in the county of Newton and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful machine involving new combinations `and arrangements, which I call the Bread-Makers Aid, for the purpose of facilitating the operation of bread, cake, and pastry making;` and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear,` and exact` description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, constituting a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a perspective view. A. represents the molding or biscuit board, which is hinged and serves to close and open the flourchest E. Thisis held shut by catches zz, and, when lowered to a horizontal position,rests on the top of B. Behind A, when shut, and above the iour, is space for sieve, bread-pan, flourbrush, rolling-pin, cake-cutters, Ste. 1 B is the meal-chest,containing one or more apartments;
i C, cover tomeal-chestB; DD, doors that close and open the side depositories,oo, 85e. These depositories are intended for drawers or other appropriate vessels to containsalt, sugars, butter, lard, spices, essences, weighing apparatus, &c. T isa convenient table whereon to place pies previous to baking.`
Fig. 2 is a side or end view illustrating the manner in which the cover C of meal-chest B is held open.
Fig. 3 is a cross-section through the flourchest E, meal-chest B, and molding-board A. The chests E and B are constructed independent of each other, and are held in working position by dowel-pins s s in sustaining-blocks F F. By thisV arrangement separation of the chests becomes easy, thus rendering lthe machine more portable in transportation and -lighter `in transfer from room to room; also,
when separate, the molding-board A, deprived of its rest when opened down, will hang close to the front of the our-chest E, giving easy access in cleaning the chest E or in supplying it with flour. G isa portion of the back of meal-chest B, so adjusted that water cannot pass into the meal-chest B through the hingejoint O, but is conveyed between the chests to the oor. i y
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section `through Hour-chest E and depositories 'u o, Sto. This shows the manner in which the sustainingblocks F F are held in their position sidewise. Casters may be read ily attached to these blocks.
I claim and desire to `secure by Letters .Pat-` ent- The combination and arrangement of the several parts comprised in the method of opening and closing the Hour-chest E, by lowering and raising the molding-board A, the relation of the Hour-chest E, meal-chest B, and molding-board A, the relation of the side depositories o o, Ste., to the flour-chest E, meal-chest B, and molding-board A, and the mode of attachment of meal-chest Bjto flour-chest E, in
the manner and for the purposes described.- l
BEN GONZALES.
