UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PETER o. iummon, OF WALDO, FLORIDA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF T0 WILLIAM DOLE, OF SAME PLACE.
GULTIVATORJOOTH.
ESPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No; 367,112, dated July 26, 1887.
' Application filed May 26, 1887. Serial No. 239,408. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER (l. MINNICH, a citizen of the United States, residing at lValdo, in the county of Alachua and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsrin GultivatorTeeth; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a cultivatortooth embodying my invention. Fia. 2 is a front elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of the cultivator-tooth. Fig. 4 is a detail view of a portion of a cultivator-frame,
showing the position ofa tooth thereon when bolted in place upon the frame, the front cutting-edge presenting-a draw-cut to the soil.
1n the drawings, the cultivator-tooth consistsof a shank, 1, provided with a bolt-hole, 2. 3 is a lug formed on the upper end of the shank. It is adapted to be inserted into a socket in the cultivator'frame, thereby saving the employment and cost of a separate bolt at that point, the bolt which passes through the bolt-hole 2 serving to rigidly hold the tooth in place on the frame.
4 are a series of recesses formed in the front and rear edges of the toot-h for the purpose of reducing weight.
The foot of the shank l is formed into two lower edge of the toesfi, the latter edges extending outwardly and downwardly from their junction with the shank 1. The toes '5 are wider and deeper than the shank, and extend both outwardly and rearwardly therefrom.
6 is a recess formed in the rear of the shank and extending downwardly and beneath the toes 5. Y
The tooth may be set or bolted to the cultivator-frame either vertically or in an inclined position.
It has not been thought necessary to illustrate the cultivator-frame, as it is not necessary to a proper understandingof the invention.
I claim-- A cultivatortooth having a shank provided with a front cutting-edge inclined rearwardly, so as to produce a draw-cut, and having diverging wings or toes on the lower end of the shank, said wings being provided with a bottom cutting edge or edges, which form an angle with said front cutting-edge.
In testimony whereofl affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
PETER O. MINNICH.
